Governor Brad Little Visits Idaho State University to Announce Idaho Launch Program

Governor Brad Little told a crowd at Idaho State University that the Idaho Launch program could change the future for thousands of Idaho students.

Idaho LAUNCH grants provide graduating high school seniors with an opportunity to have up to 80 percent of their tuition and fees covered, up to $8,000, for programs leading to in-demand careers. There is approximately $75 million available for these grants, potentially benefiting 9,000-10,000 Idaho high school seniors in 2024. To be eligible, students must graduate from an Idaho high school or equivalent, be an Idaho resident, be enrolled in or applied to an in-demand career program at an eligible Idaho institution and begin enrollment by fall semester after graduation.

ISU Debate Brings Home Awards in Early Competition

Two novice Idaho State debaters worked their way into the silver rounds last weekend during the Fran Tanner Open at the College of Southern Idaho.

Emma Grow and Shea Elordi claimed individual medals at the competition. Pocatello native Trey Mitchell took tournament-bronze in individual IPDA. Freshman Mandy Hesby also chalked up accolades in Individual Events. She claimed bronze in Extemporaneous Speaking. The team also brought the gold achievement award to Pocatello.

October Cybersecurity Training

In support of Governor Little’s proclamation that October is National Cybersecurity Month, the State of Idaho Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) and the Division of Human Resources (DHR) have teamed up to increase efforts related to training and protection from cyber attacks that have increasingly targeted state and local government agencies. The goal is to help protect your information and state networks from cyber-attacks through increased training for all State employees, including our Idaho State University employees.

In October, employees will be asked to complete a short (5 minutes) training module in KnowBe4, the State’s online training provider. KnowBe4 training modules are typically short, informative, and can be completed at your own pace. After completing refresher training modules in October, all State employees will also be assigned new annual cybersecurity training modules to complete in February 2024, as part of DHR’s required annual training campaign.
