Physics Dept.'s Free Water Rocket Festival Returns June 24 and 25

A high-flying summertime staple is returning to Pocatello’s Tydeman Park later this month. Saturday and Sunday, June 24 and 25, from 10 a.m. to noon, Idaho State University’s Department of Physics will host their Water Rocket Festival at Tydeman Park, N. 8th Avenue and E. Young Street.

Over the summer, faculty, students, and staff in Biological Sciences and Geosciences are working on a project called AIMS, which stands for Aquatic Intermittency Effects on Microbiomes in Streams. The goal is to understand how the drying up of streams - when they come and go - affects water quality in the Gibson Jack watershed near Pocatello.

This week, CoSE Alum Curtis Smith was named one of the American Nuclear Society's Fellows.

Dr. Smith was honored as the College's Professional Achievement Award winner in May.

If you or your students are out in the field over the summer months, please add it to the Google Sheet. Including an item on the spreadsheet does not guarantee that photos or videos will be shot. John and Jordon will attend as their schedule allows.

If you have any questions, email Logan McDougall, Executive Director of College Relations, at [email protected].
