Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to Crusaderville!
Way to go Will!

Congratulations to Will Omey for being named MaxPreps/USA Football West Region Player of the Week. Out of the entire U.S. Max/Preps names 8 players each week. This week, it's Will. Way to go! Will finished last Saturday's game with 43 carries for 260 rushing yards and five touchdowns, and 19-30 passing for 277, two touchdown and two. We are very proud of this young man's accomplishments and can't wait to see him flourish in his senior year. Will is the son of Kimberly Ryan Omey (Class of 1989) and Luke Omey (Class of 1991).

Foundation Update

Alumni & Friends,

The Sisters of St. Joseph started our school in Eureka in 1912 as Nazareth Academy. My grandfather was a student there in the 1920’s. My parents, Greg and Lynn, met at school there in the 1960’s. I spent thirteen years (K-12) at St. Bernard’s in the 1970’s and 80’s. My two children, Owen and Madelyn, are students there now.

I am happy to share that a team of dedicated leaders has launched the St. Bernard’s Academy Foundation to support private school education in Eureka for the next one hundred years. The mission of St. Bernard’s Academy Foundation is to provide a permanent source of funding to support the mission and success of St. Bernard’s Academy.

Local business owner of Advanced Security Systems, Chuck Petrusha, is the board president of the foundation. Chuck and his wife Robyn have three Crusaders – Morgan, Connor, and Logan. Morgan is an alumnus of St. Bernard’s Class of 2014 and is also a graduate of Sonoma State University. Connor and Logan are set to graduate in 2020 and are involved in leadership, baseball, basketball, football and golf. Chuck says, “My love for St. Bernard’s has grown having my children involved in every aspect of our private Catholic school.”

We have a large task ahead of us. We are building an endowment fund to support families who cannot afford full tuition and we are building a capital project fund to replace the current 69-year-old building. We will need your help.

We live in a special place. Our children deserve a school where they can grow and learn in a safe environment of support and God’s love. We send our students off to make a difference in the world from Yale to College of the Redwoods. We help create servant leaders who know what it means to sacrifice for the good of others. We are the working on the shoulders of those who came before us.

We are asking for a dollar a day to help us with our goals. Can you help?

Peace and love,

Paul Shanahan

Athletic's Update

This past month, our football and girls' soccer teams have struggled playing their playoff games due to the smoke from the Camp Fire. After the games being canceled countless times, our teams finally got the chance to play. Our football team played the San Marin Mustangs and came up short in the last half-second of the game. The girls' soccer team also had quite a thrilling game. The girls kept the Technology Titans tied except for the last few minutes of the game. We are so proud of our Crusader athletes and look forward to the upcoming basketball season.
