Help Us Spruce Up Downtown Camas!

Show up and show us how much you LOVE Downtown Camas at Spring Clean-up & Planting Day! Join us Sunday, April 26th, from 12:30–4 PM for an afternoon of community, fresh air, and a little dirt under our nails! Let’s make Downtown Camas shine together!

Meet at the corner of 4th & Birch at 12:30 PM to kick things off with a FREE boxed lunch, thanks to Journey Church!

Bring your gloves, spades, shovels, buckets, and wheelbarrows (we always need more wheelbarrows!) and help us weed, pick up trash, plant flowers, and spread bark dust to give our town a fresh spring glow! We’ll provide rubber gloves and trash bags.

Let’s dig in, clean up, and have some fun—because nothing says community like a little teamwork and a whole lot of love for our town! See you there!

April's First Friday: "Spring into History"!

Everyone is invited to step into local history and celebrate the season at the Camas First Friday “Spring into History!” event on April 3rd from 5–8pm. The evening will feature a historic talk and walking tour, a ribbon cutting for a new Downtown Camas business, art shows, spring-themed games and crafts, after-hours shopping and dining, live music, and more!

Help welcome a new addition to downtown—Camas Indoor Golf Club, located at 222 NE Everett St.—with a ribbon cutting at 5pm. Owner James Hafer, building on the success of his Salmon Creek location, brings a cutting-edge indoor golf experience to Camas. The club features two state-of-the-art simulator bays and the latest golf technology, designed for players of all skill levels. Guests can enjoy flexible access with 24/7 reservations, as well as day passes and monthly memberships.

Community members are also invited to take part in the fourth annual “Capture Camas History” black-and-white photography contest. Submit your favorite images of Downtown Camas by Tuesday, March 31st to promotions@downtowncamas.com. Selected entries will be displayed during First Friday, where attendees can vote for the People’s Choice winner, who will receive a $75 gift card to a Downtown Camas restaurant. Submissions will be archived for a future “Capture Camas History” album planned for 2033. Full contest details are available at downtowncamas.com.

In advance of First Friday, local history enthusiasts can attend a special documentary screening at the Camas Public Library on Tuesday, March 31st from 6:30–7:30pm. Big Medicine: York Outdoors highlights the story of York, the only African American member of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, and his vital contributions as a hunter, guide, and intermediary. A Q&A with Two Rivers Historical Museum Executive Director Jullianne Lawrence will follow the 35-minute film.

Additional First Friday activities include:

  • The “Guess About Camas” history passport game in participating businesses, with themed prizes.
  • “Dress Your Decade” costume contest for a chance to win a special prize.
  • A historic walking tour led by Brad Richardson of the Clark County Historical Museum (meet at 5:50 p.m. outside Fuel Medical, 314 NE Birch St.; rain or shine).
  • Paper-making demonstrations and mill history exhibits at the GP Mill Interpretive Lobby, 401 NE Adams St., including a 4:30 p.m. ceremony celebrating new mill projects and investments.
  • History displays and expert insights from the Two Rivers Heritage Museum and the GP Mill Cleanup Community Advisory Group at the Fuel Lobby.
  • Spring- and history-themed games and crafts hosted by Girl Scouts and Downtown Camas Association volunteers.
  • Art receptions with refreshments at Attic Gallery, Gallery 408, RedDoor Gallery, and Second Story Gallery, featuring works by local artists.
  • Extended shopping and dining opportunities throughout downtown with fresh offerings for spring.

Join us on April 3rd for all the historical fun!
