Celebrate Art! First Friday

Paint the town with color! As part of September's "Celebrate Art!" First Friday on September 6th, artists paint Plein Air and capture the essence of Downtown Camas! Artists paint during the day and then their art is showcased during the evening First Friday event!

This plein air event is open to artists of all levels and mediums, and is intended to be a showcase of local artists and their talents! Click on the link below for more info and for the application.

In addition to all of the First Friday activities, the downtown galleries will feature receptions and artists exhibits.

**Gallery 408 will be featuring artist Cindy Ingram on First Friday, September 6th. The show exhibit will include Bloom Out Loud: Boldly Happy Abstracts By Cindy Ingram. She will share her inspiration and artistic process during the First Friday ArtWalk. Her talk begins at 6:00pm.

**Second Story Gallery will be presenting an exhibition of artwork from Southwest Washington Watercolor Society. You'll love seeing all of the local art. Be sure to find your favorite!

**RedDoor Gallery will feature Dave Garbot. He works predominantly in pen and ink on both paper and canvas. His works are whimsical and detailed. Be sure to stop by the gallery and take in every little detail.

C-Tran Offers a New Line - The Current

C-Tran has introduced a new service called the Current. The Current is C-TRAN’s innovative on-demand rideshare option, offering point-to-point trips for the price of a bus fare. You can book your ride online or via our mobile app and track your driver’s arrival in real-time, much like other rideshare services. It’s essentially a $2.50 roundtrip rideshare service that provides efficient, scheduled rides from one location to another. For example, you can travel from Camas Golf Course to Camas High School for just $1.25.

What's Coming Up at the Library

Wednesday, Sept. 4th at 6:30pm

Many insects have completed winter nests by now. Larvae of bees, moths, butterflies and more are sleeping and will hatch next spring—IF you know how to keep your fall garden pollinator friendly. Join author and Camas Bee Lady Susan Chernak for a discussion on what to do with your dying-back plants, leaves, sticks, and all of the green stuff that has had its season and is shriveling into brown and yellow. What you do this autumn will show next spring: Are the winged insects flying high, or is your garden silent? Come learn how to winterize for “life.”

Nature journaling is a creative and mindful way to connect with the outdoors. It provides the benefit of being creative and observational while enjoying the world around us. Join us for an afternoon of walking through nature and getting started with our very own nature journals.

For teens in grades 6-12. All materials provided.

This program is apart of our Nature Smart Library and was made possible due to a generous grant from the Camas Washougal Community Chest. Nature Journaling takes place offsite at Lacamas Park.
