Plein Air Event Transforms the Streets Next Week!

As autumn transforms the streets of Camas with its vibrant colors, the city welcomes the return of the annual Camas Plein Air Event on Saturday, September 27th. This open-air competition invites artists to paint the charm of Downtown Camas—its tree-lined streets and quaint building storefronts—right on location.

With $2,800 in cash prizes up for grabs, including a $1,000 first-place award, the event highlights both artistic skill and community spirit. It also pays tribute to Marquita Call, the beloved founder of the Camas Plein Air Event and a devoted supporter of the local arts scene.

Throughout the day, visitors can wander downtown, watch artists bring their canvases to life, and later for the subsequent 30 days enjoy and purchase the finished works on display at RedDoor Gallery, located at 411 NE Dallas St.

There will be a reception at RedDoor Gallery that evening from 4-6pm where awards will be given and delicious refreshments had! Open to all!

Camas Library Partners in Student-led Lending Libraries!

Discovery High School students partnered with the City of Camas Library to design and build small lending libraries—take-a-book/leave-a-book boxes that invite neighbors to share stories. Three will appear around Camas, including at Crown Park. With support from city staff and librarians, students handled planning, carpentry, and finishing—blending hands-on learning with community service and expanding access to books for all ages. That's a collaboration we love!
