Celebrate Art! First Friday - Plein Air Painting for All

We're excited about the upcoming "Celebrate Art" First Friday!


As part of September First Friday on September 6th, artists paint Plein Air and capture the essence of Downtown Camas! Artists paint during the day and then their art is showcased during the evening First Friday event!


This plein air event is open to artists of all levels and mediums, and is intended to be a showcase of local artists and their talents! Click on link below for more info and the application.

Amazing Vendors at the Vintage & Art Faire!

The Camas Vintage & Art Faire is just a little over 1 week away! Woo-hoo! Saturday August 24th, 9am-3pm. What a beautiful day it will be!


This year brings many new artists and artisans to the show. Nature lovers will appreciate the authentic wildlife and scientific illustration of biology undergrad and Camas local Lux Johnson of Pale Relics. Stained glass collectors will enjoy the colorful and whimsical creations from Battleground artist Kelley McCarthy of Firefly Stained Glass. Camas maker Kierstyn Heilbrun will showcase her custom crocheted tops and other clothing, designed for all bodies. Her business, More Than Cotton, strives to empower women through her stylish handmade pieces.


Many popular artists will return for 2024 including wildlife, landscape and pet portrait painter Mike Paulsen, fine jewelry maker Heather McMaster of Girl in the Pearl, vibrant painter and silk dyer Liz Nye of E.M. ENZ Designs, and local fabric artist Kathy Marty of Windy Hill Weavers, who specializes in crafting rugs and other home items from Pendleton fabric scraps. You don't want to miss any of these beloved vendors!

 

Many new vintage vendors will also be joining this event. Longtime Camas Antiques vendor Neil Sater of Antique Frog will bring a wide selection of clothing, household goods, furniture and yard art. David Marshal of Junk Empire specializes in mid-century modern pieces and vintage toys and Tom Bliquez of Stonewood Rustics creates yard and garden art pieces out of reclaimed vintage wood and hardware.

 

Record collectors can find their missing album from returning vendor Bug Bones Records. For shoppers looking for bespoke home décor with a vintage twist, returning fan favorite vintage vendors Belle Flower Farms and the Friends and Foundation of the Camas Library offer a carefully curated selection of homegrown flower arrangements in vintage vessels and antique books sets!

4Ever Growing Kids is adding to their team and looking to fill a part-time sales team member position.


This team member would be assigned to the register/sales floor and would focus on providing outstanding customer service while maintaining an excellent overall appearance of the sales floor. The sales team member is expected to provide an efficient and courteous customer experience with a high level of energy, professionalism, and positivity. We are looking for a team player!!

Someone who is a do-er and has an ‘I can figure this out’ mentality.

Happy 141st Anniversary to the Mill

The GP Mill Interpretive Center will be open on Wednesday, August 28th from 5-8pm.


They will be celebrating their 141st anniversary! There will be cake and the mill manager, Jon Busby will come by for a visit. Please stop by and look at all the exhibits and bring your stories to share!


Fun fact: The Camas mill is the only mill that still refers to some of its machines as “mules” in a nod to the paper mill industry’s past. Come find out why!

What's Coming Up at the Library

Come play improv theater games at the Library! Improv theater is a fun activity and no experience is necessary to participate. There are three sessions at 4:30 p.m.:

No registration required. Just drop in!

What is Improv Theater?

Improv theater is short for improvisational theater. It’s a type of performance that is almost completely unplanned or unscripted. In our workshops we will be playing theater games and performing exercises. Participants will practice listening skills and collaborating with others. They will act out simple scenes that are made up on the spot! A guaranteed fun time.

It's a book club without the assigned reading! Join your fellow book lovers for an hour of silent reading and then optional socializing afterwards. B.Y.O.B (Bring your own book), or borrow one of ours.
