The June First Friday will be fantastical and the streets will be filled with unicorns, rainbows and mythical beasts! Join us on June 7th, from 5-8 pm, for an evening of themed games, crafts, art, shopping, prizes, treats, dining and more. All are welcome to participate in a sticker scavenger hunt passport adventure and celebrate the grand openings of two new businesses with ribbon cuttings. This magical event, as all First Fridays, is free, family friendly and for all ages. 🦄🌈🐲

Take part in the "Unicorns, Rainbows & Mythical Beasts" Sticker Scavenger Hunt. Sharpen your detective skills and scour the shops for hidden clues. Collect all the stickers and complete the challenge for a chance to win!

Inspiring Art on 5th Ave!

We had the unveiling of the Camas Culture Art Block art installation on 5th Ave in Downtown Camas and we couldn’t have been happier! This was a true Main Street project bringing partners together on many levels and bringing increased art and vitality to another street in downtown!

Thank you to student Maria Navarro Alejandres for her inspiration, Miranda Wakeman her art mentor who helped all the students involved, to all our incredible student artists that have shared their art and culture, to Ziply Fiber for their partnership, to Derick Paulson our patient and flexible installer, to Minuteman Press for printing, to the DCA Design Committee for their collaboration and to all the families and people who came out to share in this special event. Attic Gallery allowed us to host the reception there, Ziply sponsored it and everyone was well fed with food from all the different cultures included in the panels. A meaningful event all around and we are so very grateful!

The Challenging Bulgers--Conquered!

20-year-old Camas local, Andrew Okerlund, attempts the ultimate challenge: climbing all 100 of Washington's highest peaks in a single season. This epic 85-day journey, documented in "100 Summits", takes him across treacherous terrain, battling wildfires, rock slides, glaciers, and technical climbs. Watch as Andrew and his fellow adventurers on this awe-inspiring feat, push themselves to the limit in the pursuit of a lifetime dream.

Fun fact: Andrew is the son of a former Camas mayor! :)

100 Summits will be shown at the Liberty Theatre in Camas for one special premier showing only with the cast and team on Saturday, June 1 at 8 PM. Tickets are $7, on sale now!

What's Happening at the Library Event Spotlight

Wednesday, May 28th at 6:30pm - Calling all culinary enthusiasts! Do you like exploring and trying new recipes? Then this is the group for you!

Every month we will focus on a different type of recipe (e.g. appetizers, soups, cookies and more), you'll find and cook the recipes at home and come back to share with the group. We will talk about what went well, what you would change/recommend and what you learned. All levels of experience are welcome!

You are welcome to share dishes with the group if desired.

Great Decisions is a national, grass-roots foreign policy discussion program. Sandra Gangle will facilitate discussion of the eight new topics for 2024.

Last year, the library offered a one-day workshop introducing people to botanical art. It was taught by Scott Stapleton, an accomplished artist living in Minneapolis. Scott is going to be in Camas again, and is hosting a Botanical Art Workshop. He'll be back this year. Bring your projects you are currently working on to share.
