CATTLE DRIVE

We are excited about our 2nd Annual Cattle Drive, this Saturday, October 1! Below is everything you will need to know to have a fun safe day. The cowboys will be moving the longhorns this year!

Schedule of events:

  • 9:30 AM - Cowboys will make their way to Titan and Moore Road through the community. See the maps below for their routes. They will have candy to hand out as well.
  • 10:30 AM - 2:00 PM- Overlook Parking lot opens activities for the event with a bounce house, food truck, games, and a great view for the drive.
  • 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM - Cattle Drive begins through Providence Gulch. See the map below for the route. *cattle drive timeline is only an estimate*
  • 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM - Hayrides at the Overlook Clubhouse.

Important Street Notices:

  • There will be no parking on the following streets during the drive. Please do not stand in these areas as the cattle move through. The area is marked on the Cattle Drive Route Map.
  • Middle Fork - between Mt Jackson and Bijou Creek.
  • Basalt - between Estes Park and Bijou Creek.
  • Eagle River - between Gore Creek and Plateau Creek.
  • There will be NO PARKING available for cars or golf carts at the Overlook Clubhouse 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM.

Essential Safety Guidelines:

  • Please do not get in front of the drive nor close beside the cows.
  • Please stay out of Providence Gulch during the drive.
  • Please keep pets at a safe distance from the cows and horses.
  • The sidewalk behind the Overlook will be open for viewing the cattle drive. Please be mindful and keep your distance from the cows and horses.
  • Please do not ride bikes, scooters, or golf carts near the cattle drive.
  • It is best to keep a fence or vehicle between you and the cows as they go by in the narrow areas.
  • Follow behind the horses at a safe distance is fine; best-done walking, and get pictures of the old west.
  • Keep in mind that cows do not want to hurt anyone, but they could be “spooked” and weigh about half a ton each, so be sure to keep your distance!

If everyone is respectful of the cattle and enjoys the cattle drive from a safe distance, it will be a joyful experience for everyone (cattle included)!

DOUGLAS COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT NEWS!

DOUGLAS COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT (DCSD) INFORMATION SESSION

Please join DCSD to learn more about ballot initiatives 5A and 5B regarding how schools are funded in Douglas County and across the state. Board of Education Directors will be participating, as well as school district staff, and will share their knowledge of the initiatives.

Douglas County School District Funding Information Session

October 13th: 6 - 7pm

Sterling Center in Sterling Ranch

8155 Piney River Avenue

Littleton, CO 80125

Last month, the DCSD Board of Education voted unanimously to place a Mill Levy Override (MLO) (ballot initiative 5A) and a Bond (ballot initiative 5B) on the November ballot.

Issue 5A - If passed by voters, the MLO would enable the district to pay teachers and staff more competitively. If passed, teachers would receive, on average, a 9% pay increase. If 5A passes, the estimated cost per home is $1 a week per $100K home value. A home valued at $750K, is estimated to pay an additional $390 a year in property tax.

Issue 5B - The Bond would enable the school district to build three new elementary schools in quickly growing neighborhoods (Sterling Ranch, Crystal Valley, and The Canyons). In addition, it would expand Mesa Middle School and Sierra Middle School. In addition, 5B would enable DCSD to make necessary repairs and improvements to facilities so that learning environments are safe and comfortable for students. If 5B passes, taxes or taxpayer costs will not increase as the initiative would renew an expiring bond.

Read the full DCSD MLO/Bond plan by clicking here. You can also view a short 5 minute video featuring Superintendent, Erin Kane, by clicking here.

Please Note: The information session is a private event being offered through DCSD and is not sponsored or endorsed the Sterling Ranch CAB or the Sterling Ranch Colorado Metropolitan Districts Nos. 1-7.
