Member Spotlight - Northern Indiana Workforce Board (Region 2) Highlights Apprenticeship Success with Purdue Manufacturing Extension Partnership and Marson International
Valerie Pinarski, Northern Indiana Workforce Board's Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) Engagement Case Manager, recently assisted David Eli, who had worked at Manchester Tank for 35 years, before it closed. Dave was interested in a training opportunity, but was leery of training in a traditional school environment.

Valerie informed Dave that an apprenticeship program was an option for him, through his TAA benefits. As it happens, Lucas Vincentini with Marson International was interested in bringing Dave on as an apprentice.

Senior Industry Advisor Dietra Rosenkoetter at Purdue Manufacturing Extension partnership worked with Valerie to create a related training curriculum, which was promptly submitted to the United States Department of Labor for approval. Within a week the program was approved. The apprenticeship program was also submitted as a TAA training plan request to TAA for approval was also immediately approved.

David was successfully on-boarded as a Safety and Health Specialist apprentice at Marson International. It all happened in under 3 weeks!

It is amazing what a team can do!
Governor's Workforce Cabinet Releases Recommendations
In advance of the 2023 legislative session, the Governor's Workforce Cabinet offers Recommendations to Tackle Employer Talent Challenges and Accelerate the State's Economy. These recommendations address critical needs in Indiana's economy, including helping employers find workers and develop a skilled talent pipeline, removing barriers that are keeping people out of the labor force and priorities for preparing Indiana’s future workforce.

INWBA members act as the backbone of the Indiana public workforce system. We are encouraged by many of these recommendations and how we can be critical partners, keeping in mind the GWC's commitment to "Think globally, plan regionally, act locally."
Upcoming Member Events
INWBA members hold events, including job fairs and workshops, on a regular basis. More information on all events may be found at member websites as well as on DWD: Job Fairs & Opportunities (in.gov) or at individual INWBA member websites.
