Greetings, Dear Friends!

Can you believe the year is half over! Like lightning, our lives slip by. Scripture says we are but a vapor. If you're like me, you want your little vapor to count, don't you?

But how can you do that? By discovering your God-given destiny and living it out. If you need help with this, ask Holy Spirit to show you. He will.

I hope you enjoy my latest newsletter. It is filled with news about my family and my writing.

Thanks for your faithful support. An author is nothing without her readers. So thank you for being one of mine!

Love and Blessings,

On the Homefront
Summer is full upon us here at the Diorio household. We have been enjoying spending time with our grandchildren at T-Ball and gymnastics events. We have also enjoyed planting sunflower seeds, finger-painting, reading wonderful stories, and even writing some! :) We have been especially busy trying to track down the rabbit that ate Nonno's tomatoes in his vegetable garden!

Our grandchildren are growing quickly and are now 10, 8, 6, 4, and 3 and a half. We must not forget the half, right? :) It's amazing how much that half a year matters to a little one. We should take that as an example to count every moment of our lives as precious and a great gift.

I trust that you, too, are enjoying a wonderful summer with your family. May our Lord keep you safe in His loving care throughout the summer and always!

A Word of Encouragement for You
by MaryAnn Diorio

Do you get the feeling the world has gone insane? If so, you're in good company because the world has, indeed, gone insane. Why? Because a world that turns away from God will lose its ability to think straight.

Jesus warned us in Matthew 24 that the end times would be filled with perils. But the Good News is still the Good News. Jesus saves! Jesus loves! Jesus redeems!

No matter what you are facing today, remember that Jesus Christ is with you. He will be your comfort, your peace, and your joy. Just trust Him!

MaryAnn's Writing Update

I am busily completing A SICILIAN FAREWELL, the second novel in my trilogy titled THE ITALIAN CHRONICLES. Lord willing, it will be released in late fall. This story brings to the forefront Luca Tonetta, the hero of THE MADONNA OF PISANO, the first novel in my trilogy. A SICILIAN FAREWELL is a gripping, heart-wrenching story of one couple's courageous journey to achieve their dream against all odds. Will Luca and Maria Tonetta accomplish their God-given destiny? A SICIlIAN FAREWELL will touch your heart and keep you on the edge of your seat.

Look also for two more of my children's books, THE DANDELION PATCH and POEMS FOR WEE ONES. They should be released in early 2017, Lord willing.

Finally, my new nonfiction e-book, THE DAYSTAR DEVOTIONAL, will be released by the end of the summer. It is a compilation of the weekly devotional that I wrote for five and a half years. THE DAYSTAR DEVOTIONAL is being published in response to popular demand.

Recipe Rack

Lemon Chicken
Lemon Chicken
(from the kitchen of Dominic and MaryAnn Diorio)
1 /4  cup flour
5 teaspoons corn oil
1 /4   teaspoon black pepper
1 /4  cup low-sodium chicken broth
 1/2  teaspoon paprika
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 skinned and boned chicken breasts (about 1 pound) halved and pounded to 1/4  inch thickness
2 tablespoons capers, drained
Combine the flour, pepper, and paprika on a plate. Press the chicken breasts into the mixture, coating them evenly all over and shaking off any excess.
In a heavy 10-inch skillet, heat the corn oil over moderately high heat for 1 minute. Add the chicken and cook about 3 minutes on each side; do not overcook. Transfer the chicken to a heated platter.
Add the chicken broth to the skillet, scraping up any browned bits on the bottom. Stir in the lemon juice and capers and heat through.
Pour the sauce over the chicken and serve. If desired, serve with a side of linguine. Serves 4.
