Summer is in full swing, but for some it can be a tough time. For children who don't have access to the foods they need to live an active, healthy life summer can be anything but fun. Thanks to our community partners, we're able to provide up to 3 meals a day at no cost to children and families in need. If you or someone you know is in need, please text FOOD to 304-304. We have 34 sites for those in need. We want everyone to have access to this basic necessity, so be sure to spread the word!

Celebrating 20 years of YUM! Brands

CHEERS to 20 YEARS!! This month we are celebrating our 20 year partnership with Yum! Brands! They've invested more than $16 million dollars in helping us conquer the cycle of need in our community. With their investment we were able to open our community kitchen which provides innovative meals, summer meals, and food for our kids cafes. Their investment has allowed a pathway for us to address food insecurity - for that we are incredibly grateful! Thank you Yum! Brands for your support over the years, we couldn't do what we do with you!

Partner Spotlight

Welcome to Louisville - Publix Groundbreaking

We're incredibly excited to welcome our new partners, Publix Groceries to Louisville. They have donated nearly 800,000 lbs. since the fall of 2021 and they announced a $175,000 donation to provide a new mobile pantry truck to better serve our neighbors in need! Thank you Publix for your support of our community.

This month we were happy to be a fresh stop market in partnership with New Roots. New Roots is offering farm, fresh produce to food insecure areas across Louisville and Southern Indiana. We will be a pickup site for farm, fresh produce twice a month through the growing season. For more details click here

We were able to invest a total of $250,000 to 12 of our partner agencies committed to fighting hunger. HighPoint Charitable Services was awarded $6,000 to better serve our neighbors in need! Our partners are crucial in our missing to conquer the cycle of need and we're happy to provide resources so they continue to thrive. For more details on this program visit here.

Thank you to John Gary for volunteering in the kitchen in honor of his daughter's birthday (Chef Teresa)! He is a retired Army veteran, who moved  here from Mississippi about 3 years ago. He likes to jam out on an acoustic guitar with his granddaughter, Teagan, and loves all things vintage car, mules & horses.

Thank you to Papa John's for donating $25,000 to help us serve our neighbors in need and for an amazing service project. Their team volunteered in our kitchen, our main warehouse and our CSFP warehouse. Thank you for your service and commitment to a hunger free Kentuckiana!

Following an incredible groundbreaking, where they gifted us with a donation for our mobile pantry the Publix team sorted nearly 37,000 pounds of fresh produce including peaches, green beans, apples and so much more.

Support our Virtual Food Drive Program

Learn how you can host a virtual food drive by visiting here. You can donate rice, vegetables and other food items the same way you would with a regular food drive, but this saves you the time of lugging cans around. Challenge your friends or teammates by registering your food drive as a group!

Vincent James Sr. became the newest CEO of Dare to Care food bank in October of 2021. He was formerly the Chief of Community Building for Louisville Metro Government. Lucky for us he gets to continue his work building communities and fighting for some of our most vulnerable neighbors.

When he's not serving as President and CEO of Dare to Care he's serving as the Pastor of Elim Baptist Church. Be sure to say hello if you see him out in the community!

A Message from our President & CEO

It's been an incredible experience serving you these past few months. We've accomplished so much together and I've enjoyed every day I get to come to work. We had a successful, Taste of Derby Festival after a COVID hiatus. We launched the partner grant program and we've gained new partners like Publix Grocery, who have already shown what it means to be neighborly. We were able to celebrate a 20 year partnership, which doesn't come by often. So, thank you all for your support, and your commitment to conquering the cycle of need across Kentuckiana. Together, we will continue to provide for ALL.
