ASA member Ted Sofis discusses the history of the ASA Publications Committee, highlighting the growth of Shotcrete magazine over the years. He recognizes the contributions from the dedicated committee members who volunteered their time to educate the construction industry about shotcrete through the magazine. As the Publications Committee fulfilled its mission and officially disbanded at the Fall 2019 committee meetings, ASA thanks the Publications Committee members for their efforts over the years as well as Ted Sofis for his leadership to the committee. ASA Shotcrete Contractor Education

This seminar has been rescheduled to better accommodate the needs of contractors' schedules. A requirement for the ASA Contractor Qualification Program (CQP), this seminar covers the best practices of being a shotcrete contractor. Topics include materials, equipment, personnel, application, QC/QA, curing, protection, and project management. It is also a required first step in the CQP, providing the opportunity to take the required written exam. This is a valuable course for contractors to learn more about the details and requirements for quality shotcrete placement, regardless of their intent to pursue qualification. ASA Shotcrete Inspector Education

This seminar has been rescheduled to be available at The ACI Concrete Convention and Exposition. Shotcrete’s growing use in construction and its soon to be released inclusion in ACI 318 "Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete" necessitates on-site inspectors who are knowledgeable about shotcrete materials, application, and quality. This course is the recommended educational component to ACI’s new Shotcrete Inspector Certification Program that is expected to be launched in 2019. The seminar will count as a portion of the work experience required for the ACI certification.

ASA Fall Committee Meetings will be held Saturday, October 19, 2019, at the Duke Energy Convention Center in Cincinnati, OH, prior to The ACI Concrete Convention and Exposition, October 20-24.
