Town of Windsor Public Works and Open Space Facility Breaks Ground
MDG is celebrating the October 10, 2016 ground breaking for the new Public Works and Open Space Facility in Windsor, Colorado!

Having outgrown their current facility, the Town of Windsor enlisted the help of Infusion Architects, along with MDG, to design a new facility.

MDG evaluated the functional requirements, meeting with Town of Windsor stakeholders, facility employees, and Design Team members. These meetings helped ensure the design met the needs of all stakeholders, both now and into the future. MDG and the Team also designed the new facility to be a good neighbor to the surrounding community, providing options through design that shield the nearby neighborhoods and streets from facility operations.

The ground breaking begins the initial phase of construction on the 24-acre site. This phase will concentrate on the development of 10 acres by fall of 2017. The initial build will allow substantial space for future facility growth through 2035.

MDG to Attend GreenBuild Tour of Division 14 Rail Operations and Maintenance Facility
MDG Facility Designer Amit Roy attended the GreenBuild Expo Tour of  LA Metro Division 14 Rail Operations and Maintenance Facilit y on October 8, 2016. Amit was joined on the tour by Team members RNL, LA Metro staff, and GreenBuild members interested in finding out more about this sustainable, innovative facility.

Division 14 opened earlier this spring, and serves the Expo light rail line, which offers efficient transportation from downtown Los Angeles to Santa Monica.  This line not only reduces congestion on the Santa Monica Freeway for daily commuters, but also allows residents of the Los Angeles area a direct  line to the beach.

MDG led the design team for Metro's design-bid-build project. Sustainability was key in the Division 14 design. Green features include high efficiency LED fixtures, skylights and windows for day lighting, a 400,000-gallon cistern to capture rainwater for vehicle wash and integration, and a host of other sustainable features. The facility was designed net-zero energy ready and achieved LEED Gold certification.

Tour members will have a chance to see these innovative, sustainable features in person, as well as take a ride on the Expo line itself!

MDG Gets Out Into the Community
During the 2016 Annual Facility Designer meetings in Denver, Colorado, MDG staff had the opportunity to tour two great MDG facility projects.

MDG team members were excited to have the opportunity to see these great examples of MDG work in action!

MDG team members also gave back to the community, helping spread mulch for trees and picking up litter at Denver-area parks. MDG team members loved this opportunity to ensure greener, cleaner parks!
