Summer Reading Challenge 2019
|
|
What do stars, planets, and galaxies far and beyond have to do with the library? If you love astronomy, enjoy reading and like prizes, TONS! The annual
Summer Reading Challenge at Chandler Public Library starts June 1, 2019 and runs through August 1, 2019. This year's theme is "A Universe of Stories."
The theme focuses on space exploration in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo Moon Landing. Check out our
events calendar
for a full schedule of activities.
In addition to promoting positive community-building, each participant - regardless of age - is challenged to read for 1,000 minutes during the summer months and track those minutes
online. Tracking forms will also be available for children to easily see their reading progress, then log your children's minutes
online or bring the forms in to the library and our teen volunteers can assist. All program participants will be able to enter a drawing for raffle prizes, including a telescope for school-age children. You can
create your online account now and start entering your minutes beginning June 1.
We look forward to reading with you this summer!

Soundbite Truck to visit!
|
|
The Chandler Public Library will offer our community an opportunity to share their own stories through a Summer Reading Challenge partnership with KJZZ's mobile recording studio, Soundbite. The Soundbite experience includes both a performance stage and recording studio. As crowds gather they will be entertained by performers while in the recording booth a sound engineer and interviewer will capture stories from our community. Topics discussed will include what participants love about the Library and enjoy about living in Chandler. These stories will be archived and shared to promote our collective experiences and local pride.
