Our Stories
Prisoners and the Missing- Voices of the Korean War

Sixty-eight years after his capture on the battlefield by the North Korean Army, former prisoner of war and Arizona native Arden Rowley shares his story. Over 7,000 Americans were captured during the three years of the Korean War. These servicemen were sent to camps throughout North Korea and suffered from the cold, brutal treatment, and starvation.

Arden began his captivity on December 1, 1950 and was freed in August of 1953. Joining him is Dr. Yuri McKee, a local doctor and former US Air force flight surgeon, who has a deep interest in the status of Korean War MIA soldiers. Drawing on insights as the medical director for the 35 th  Joint Recovery Operation in 2004,  Dr. McKee will describe the experience of negotiating with North Korean officials on the recovery of Korean War MIA servicemen, as well as the impact today on the families of those who have yet to come home.

Join us on Saturday, December 1 at the Chandler Sunset Library at 10:30a.m. to learn more!
