Quilt Builder Block of the Week

The blocks we will be learning can be made in sizes 6", 8", 10 ", 12" or a whopping 36" perfect for quick table toppers or baby quilt to gift!

We will also cover tips, tools and techniques that help make quilting easy and fun, and will definitely will improve your quilt block building skills.

The rest of the quilt is simply borders with corner squares.

This quilt is made with a fun double star block and then pieced sashing creates the secondary stars.  The pattern teaches you lots of techniques including no-waste flying geese, stitch and flip, and some basic piecing. And the fun part is trying to guess which stars are the blocks and which stars are the sashing.  It looks a little confusing, but Pam will show you how easy it all goes together ;)

Cake Recipe - Half-Square Triangle Quilt Class

Join us to piece a half-square triangle quilt! 

This quilt uses the Cake Mix Recipe #1 book. Four recipe cards from the book are used to create each block. The sample quilt has 4-24 inch blocks thus sixteen recipe cards were used. Two 10 inch squares (one colored and one background) and one recipe card are sewn together. The squares are then cut using lines on the recipe card. The resulting half square triangles are very straight and square. A number of different blocks can be constructed using these half square triangles. You can make the quilt with two colors (like the sample) or make it scrappy. Make as many blocks are you desire.
