Mother of Pearl is made from the protective layers of calcium carbonate which line the inside of the pearl oyster shell. This is the same natural process and material as the pearl, and takes up to seven years to form. This particular "snow white" specimen, which is a perfect fit to go with Benjamin Moore's 2016 color of the year "Simply White," is the cleanest white that nature can produce and is stunning in appearance. The beautiful shimmering white you see in this Mother of Pearl is caused by the repeating layers of pure white mineral going deep into the shell.
Mother of Pearl is synonymous with protection and calmness; associated planets are Moon and Neptune. It's the first anniversary gemstone. A protection stone, Mother of Pearl brings the gentle healing power of the sea. It is a stress relieving stone; relaxing, soothing and calming to the emotions. Mother of Pearl stimulates our intuition, imagination, sensitivity and adaptability. It helps our emotions become more harmonious and balanced. Calming and soothing to temper or feelings of fear, it enables you to more easily express feelings of love. Mother of Pearl helps with the clarity in decision-making and is helpful for endurance, organization and for the home life.
The large scale panels of specimen pieces of Mother of Pearl , now at CUMAR Marble and Granite, have been meticulously laid out to take full advantage of the natural beauty of shell stone. To schedule an appointment to view our custom stone please call 617-389-7818.
 The Absence of Color

Benjamin Moore recently announced that their 'Color of the Year' is the absence of color! The actual shade, entitled Simply White, is "transcendent, powerful, and polarizing," according to color experts. To check out more on the surprising pick, see the announcement HERE.
CUMAR Marble and Granite has been excelling in this trend for quite some time. Below are just a few samples of some of the beautiful white stone that we offer.
