Chair's Message

Welcome to the last edition of What's New In Medicine for 2025, featuring a reimagined format to optimize navigability.

As we approach the holidays, we are proud to reflect on our Department's substantial growth and its laser-sharp focus on innovation and continued achievement in research and patient care. A key area of alignment was the enhancement of our research arm, including the appointment of Dr. Kyu Rhee as Vice Chair of Research, the refinement of Dr. Marshall Glesby’s role to Vice Chair of Faculty Development, and the appointment of Dr. Greg Sonnenberg to the newly created position of Associate Vice Chair of Research.

We were thrilled to hold our 10th annual Research Retreat on November 14th, which is highlighted under Spotlight Articles. This year's event brought together faculty, residents, and postdoctoral trainees from across Weill Cornell Medicine and featured more than 200 poster presentations. I was especially impressed by the remarkable passion and dedication of our junior faculty. In addition to the outstanding work by our executive committee and fellow organizers, I want to express my appreciation to Kristen Brady, Assistant Director of Research Administration, for her enormous efforts in ensuring the event’s success.

Under Faculty and Staff News, we're pleased to share our 2025 promotions (Associate Professor and above) as well as new appointments, including Dr. Trip Gulick being named Associate Dean for Clinical Research, effective October 1, 2025, and Dr. Philip Katz's appointment as the Inaugural Assistant Dean of Medical Student Research, effective January 2, 2026.

On behalf of the Weill Department of Medicine, thank you all for your support this year. As we look ahead to 2026, I am inspired by the purpose that unites us and the compassion that defines our work. May we enter the new year energized to advance our mission together.

Sincerely,

Myles Wolf, MD, MMSc
