Summer 2019

Wow - what a summer! Our kids may be out of school, but we have been busy. June started with a bang with Camp Lemonade - with 121 kids attending this year. Our Devine Virtuosos team also held it's 5th annual band camp, with over half of the 60 students attending on scholarship with your support. And, our fundraising teams stayed busy planning our fundraisers - including our golf tournament and a new event, The Cypress Market @ Cy-Hope, coming in May 2020. As we ramp up for our back-to-school activities, we ask that you consider how you might #bethedifference for our CFISD students this school year. We cannot do the work we do without your support and appreciate each and every one of you so much!

Volunteer Spotlight - Backpack Crew
Our Backpack Program wrapped up in May, so we want to send a huge shoutout of thanks to our Backpack Crew for all of their hard work in keeping this program running and making sure all of our CFISD students have the food they need. They will get back to work in September when we resume our normal backpack deliveries.
Kids Experience the Power of Music at Band Camp
We were thrilled with the results of our 5th annual Summer Band Camp! It is amazing what almost 60 students from middle schools across the district can achieve in just one week. With your help and support, 36 of these students attended on scholarship. Our camp clinicians, Susan Meyers-Patterson, Andrea Maher, and Lilian Gonzalez, led our students through some fun and challenging music throughout the week. We also focused on providing students with opportunities to listen to performers and speak with them about how playing an instrument can be a lifetime opportunity even if their career choice is not in music.  Thanks to our performers, including: Lucas Lynn, a current Cy Falls High School all-state bass clarinetist, Bethany Eaton, a University of Houston graduate clarinetist, the Cypress Winds Clarinet Quartet, a group of retirees that perform for fun and continue to challenge themselves on their instruments, and Dr. Collin Jenkins, Professor of Physics and Astronomy at the University of St. Thomas. Click here to listen to a clip from our spectacular showcase concert for the community at the end of camp!
