Grand Opening: Mission Hills-Hillcrest/Knox Library
Community members of all generations gathered this January to celebrate the grand opening of the new Mission Hills-Hillcrest/Harley & Bessie Knox Branch Library. With a symbolic book pass, speeches from elected officials and live music, the event reflected the San Diego community's excitement for this highly anticipated learning hub.
"This is a catalyst for community engagement," San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer said, highlighting the importance of gathering spaces for people to come together.
Topping Out: NuVasive Lusk Campus Amenities Building
FPBA celebrated the topping out of the 28,000-square-foot NuVasive Lusk Campus Amenities Building just before the New Year. FPBA team members left their mark on the building's final beam, which was painted a symbolic NuVasive purple.
2018 Recap: Achievements
In 2018, FPBA was honored with several project and event awards. The County of San Diego Alpine Library won the DBIA National Award of Merit for Civic Buildings. FPBA's Philip Pape and Amanda Schultz celebrated at the DBIA National Convention in New Orleans alongside team members Andy Feth from C.W. Driver, John McGee from McParlane & Associates, and Stephane Beauvais from ELEN Consulting.
Meanwhile, Interior Designer Evy Lopez recently took home Best Craftsmanship at the IIDA San Diego Haute Couture Fashion Show for an ensemble combining hippie style with the moody and romantic aspects of Spanish fashion. We think Gaud í would approve!
Lastly, the El Cajon Animal Shelter won the National Design Award from the Society of American Registered Architects. FPBA is immensely grateful for the creativity and hard work put forth by all team members involved.

Congratulations to Craig Horwat, CASp!
Craig Horwat, Sr. Project Architect and Associate, recently became a Certified Access Specialist (CASp)! FPBA is extremely proud of his hard work and passion for accessibility compliance.
(Little known fact: Craig's legal first name is Bradley!)
