January and February at HFH have been filled with memorable family events, staff development opportunities, and special programming. An "F is for Family" workshop at Prospect prompted new community dialogue on family homelessness. HFH staff members discovered new tools and connections with local organizations at our resource fairs. In February, HFH Summer Camps opened applications for the 2019 Camp Season. Throughout the past two months, all three HFH family residences demonstrated the value of recreation for the whole family through innovative parent programming and family engagement.
"F is for Family" at Prospect
In late January, families from Prospect residence and afterschool participated in a family workshop featuring activities, videos, and storybooks developed by Sesame Street in Communities to help young children understand the experience of homelessness.

Family Services Resource Fairs
This February, we held two staff resource fairs, where representatives from community org anizations like Sanctuary for Families , the Alliance for Positive Change , and The Bridge shared their resources and expertise with sta ff at HFH family residences.

Family Talent Show at Saratoga
This February, after months of rehearsals and preparation from families and staff, Saratoga's Family Talent Show was a tremendous success, featuring glow-in-the-dark performances, a friendly dance battle, and plenty of family photo opportunities.

Family Event at Williamsbridge
In mid-February, Williamsbridge kicked off its new monthly family engagement program with a show produced by Petland , a live interactive animal experience, featuring tarantulas, lizards, snakes, and rabbits, among other creatures.

Parent Programming at Saratoga Focuses on Cooking and the Arts
In February, families at Saratoga came together for an Adult Art Show showcasing the work of par ents enrolled in Saratoga Recreation's adult art class. Kids and parents alike completed an accompanying make-your-own-journal project.

Every Friday, parents at Saratoga have been coming together to bond over food and family at an adult cooking class, where they learn recipes that combine affordability with family-friendly nutrition.

Celebrating Black History Month at Saratoga
At Saratoga's Early Childhood Education Center, parents joined their children for a Black History Month lesson and art activity on Garrett Morgan, inventor of the traffic light.
Prospect Marks National Children's Dental Health Month
In February, students from Columbia University School of Dental Medicine made dental hygiene fun for children at Prospect afterschool using stuffed animals, books, and coloring activities.
Stay Tuned: HFH Summer Camps Registration Opens
Our Camp Provider Breakfast in early February kicked off recruitment season for HFH Summer Camps, which provide an authentic camp experience for up to 600 campers each summer. Registration opened Feb 25.
