Black History Month
We are so excited to Black History Month month this year! We stand prouder because of the black American women and men who made a mark on this country; we remember and honor the diversity of black role models, inspiring us to be our best!

This month, MAS has so much planned! There will be door decoration contests, drawing/writing contests, lessons on influential individuals, spelling bees, assembles, and more. We are especially excited to share the Black History Month Social Media Series by our JA Math Teacher, Mr. Tyrone Moore. Click the video above to view one segment & keep an eye on our social media page for more of this month's celebrations!
During K4-5th Grade Art Class, each scholar was given a piece of the
collaborative mural of a black history hero.
Week of Tech a Huge Success!
MAS students logged over 16,000 hours of code during Milwaukee’s Week of Tech hosted by MKE Tech Hub Coalition! The future tech talent pipeline is in our hands... You never know when a student will find their passion for their future career, which is why each day counts at MAS. This video shows the power and purpose of engaging kids in tech at places like MAS, Discovery World and more!

Partner Spotlight: WI Reading Corps 📚
Ms. Kay Begalke, our Wisconsin Reading Corps Tutor (pictured on the right), shared that she "loves seeing the students rise from low reading levels to the top of the class.”

K5 student, Kai’lee Mae Walker (pictured left) is one of those students. Kai'lee focused on blending letter sounds in order to pronounce words - until she was recognizing enough sight words to graduate the Reading Corps Program!

Through 20 minute one on one tutoring sessions every day, reading corps tutors catch students up to state standards with extra literary support. And, as Ms. Kay says, "sometimes they just need a confidence boast before they can read."

We are so grateful for our partnership with Reading Corps. We are strong & smarter with you in our building!
