WEDNESDAYS IN LENT

Wednesday evenings in Lent through March 25, we’ll gather in the sanctuary 7:00 to 7:59pm, to pray for Courage and Healing, with music, scripture, guided meditation, and a chance to share. Along with these traditional elements, our gatherings will be informed by reading from How We Learn to Be Brave, by Mariann Edgar Budde, the Episcopal Bishop of Washington, D.C. (Avery/Penguin Random House, 2023.) Especially helpful for people of faith in these challenging times, the book is widely available in local bookstores and online, and you are encouraged to read it as a part of your Lenten spiritual journey.

Sunday, March 1, 4-5 pm - Delightful and educational concert for all ages, showcasing the colorful sounds of the pipe organ, presenting the famous Prokofiev story "Peter and the Wolf" with Jörg Reddin at the organ and Michael McGushin as narrator. With a few additional favorite organ solo pieces, this concert is an excellent way to introduce one to the "King of the Instrument

Invite your friends!

Sunday, March 1, 6 pm, Peace United Church - Santa Cruz Baroque Festival presents an evening of blended secular and sacred vocal music featuring outstanding soloists joined by UCSC Chamber Choir, followed by a reception.

CYF Theme: Lent

This month, we have explored the theme of Love and Action. Our video this week demonstrates how our individual efforts can join with others to accomplish beautiful things. We are sharing "Together" by Mona Damluji, a book described by Ibram X. Kendi as "a vision of the world we want for our children, one in which all living things flourish, our communities thrive, and justice prevails."

In the illustrations by Innosanto Nagara, adults may recognize references to various justice movements and leaders, while children can enjoy hunting for a frog on every page. We hope you enjoy this week's story.
