The Building and Ground storage

Our team is so busy with weeding, landscaping, mowing, repairs, painting, etc. that we never

What About Masks?

Out of our commitment to extravagant hospitality, remembering especially the many children and youth who have not yet been vaccinated against Covid, we will ask you for a few more weeks to continue wearing masks while we're indoors. We thank you for your kind consideration of the health and safety of our entire community at PUCC.
Attend the National UCC GENERAL SYNOD

The General Synod is the national gathering of the United Church of Christ, our denomination, bringing together representatives of all our global and national ministries, and regional conferences (like Northern California-Nevada), and welcoming visitors and interested friends from our thousands of UCC congregations. The meeting is usually held in a large city over several days and can be an expensive experience. This year the event is virtual and costs only $100 to attend any of the workshops, concerts, and worship services.

The General Synod runs from July 11-18 and includes more than 100 special events and educational opportunities. To encourage participation, the Vera Taylor Scholarship Fund will cover half the registration fee for people in our community who would like to attend. The expectation is that in the weeks and months following General Synod, participants will share with Peace UCC what they have learned at these meetings. Check out the schedule here: https://www.generalsynod.org.

For more information on the scholarships and to be part of the Peace team of Synod participants, contact Elizabeth Schilling at lizzy@baymoon.com.

Poetry at Peace

Anna Citrino shared this poem about the wonder of music in our everyday life

.Listening to Bach’s B Minor Mass in the Kitchen
— Elizabeth Burns

Finally, I’m done with the phone calls and everything else
and when I switch on the radio it feels like lying in salt water –
all I need to do is breathe: Bach will keep me afloat.
I’m mixing yeast into flour, making rolls for my daughter’s
birthday breakfast in the morning, kneading and kneading
the dough then setting it to rise; arranging in a glass
the last of the tiny pink roses with a sprig of green,

"Another world is not only possible, she is on her way. On a quiet day,
if you listen carefully, you can hear her breathing."
~ Arundhati Roy
Loving God, you fill all things with a fullness and hope that we can never comprehend. Thank you for leading us into a time where more of reality is being unveiled for us all to see. We pray that you will take away our natural temptation for cynicism, denial, fear and despair. Help us have the courage to awaken to greater truth, greater humility, and greater care for one another. May we place our hope in what matters and what lasts, trusting in your eternal presence and love. Listen to our hearts’ longings for the healing of our suffering world.

This week we ask for prayers for:

  • Lisa Johnson, her husband and her father.
  • Mary Male
  • Lisa Hoesing
  • Our Peace UCC community
  • All the lives altered and destroyed by wildfires. (human and wild life)
  • Wisdom for the leaders of the US

Knowing, good God, you are hearing us better than we are speaking, we offer these prayers in all the holy names of God. Amen. lives.

Many Blessings,

Bonnie Lange

We Want Your Face!

Most of us cringe when we see ourselves in photos, but you probably have one photo that shows your face the way you would like other people to see it. We want that photo for our records! Pastor Dave especially is interested in having a pictorial record because there are so many of you he hasn't yet been able to meet in person.

Here's how you do it...please email Devon a digital photo of yourself and she will take care of the rest! Thank you. We look forward to "seeing" you soon.
Office Hours!

Some days we're on campus, some days we're remote, but 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, staff are attending to the business of our church office: monitoring e-mail, answering telephones and/or responding to messages, working on the dozens of different projects and connections that keep our ministry moving forward. As on-campus activities increase in the months ahead, so will our in-person presence in the church office, Monday through Thursday.

You can reach us by e-mail, office@PeaceUnited.org, or by phone, 831-426-2010.

Pastor Dave also is working out of the church office, Monday through Thursday, and most weeks will have office hours on Saturday too, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday is his day off. In case of emergency, the pastor is available by cell phone, 773-255-8095. If you would like to schedule a meeting or would like to "drop by", please contact us via email using this link to make an arrangement.

Buildings & Grounds Needs Your
"Free Service Tags"

Every City of Santa Cruz resident with refuse service gets four “Free Service Tags” annually, good for extra curbside trash or a free “dump run” at the city dump. Most of us don’t need these tags and they remain unused.

Your Buildings and Grounds team can put these Tags to good use, though! As you might imagine, our 6-acre campus generates a lot more yard waste than will fit in the curbside carts, and we make frequent dump runs.

If you have City “Free Service Tags” that you won’t use, please consider donating them to the church. Just mail or drop them off at the church office, and receive our heartfelt thanks!

We're registered on Amazon Smile! Learn more and designate Peace UCC as your chosen charity to receive 0.5% of your Amazon Smile purchases, at no cost to you, here.

Our conference staff and the offices have
moved to a new address. The new address is
