Bless the Beasts!
Bring your furry/scaly/hairy/feathered friends with you to church on Sunday, October 18. The worship service at 10:30am will include a Blessing of the Beasts, affirming their dignity as creatures and their special place in our caring for God’s creation. All sorts are welcome, well-behaved humans too! If you want us to pray blessing upon an animal who can’t come to church with you, consider bringing a photograph or some other token of your beloved beast.

Love Your Neighbor
For the month of October, our theme is LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR!
This week we're reading "Have You Filled a Bucket Today?" by Carol McCloud. By imagining that everyone has an invisible bucket that needs filling, the book helps illustrate the importance of loving ourselves as well as our neighbors. Having a "full bucket" helps all of us be our best selves! We can all help make sure everyone's imaginary bucket is full by doing kind things for the people in our lives.
We hope you enjoy this week's online storytelling video.

Our next KNO is Tonight, October 16!
Kid's Night Out is the 3rd Friday of the month from 6 - 8 p.m. This month will be a bit different, since our church buildings will be full of preparations for our first annual Fall Fest!
This Friday we will start outside playing games, then head to the Upper Room, order pizza (since the kitchen and Fellowship Hall are being used for Fall Fest Prep!) and explore some new places at church! We'll also do a craft and read a story that help us think about loving our neighbors!

Sunday, October 18
Come and learn about new research around Mary Magdalene. Melodee Kistner will share the insights into the research by Dr. Elizabeth Schrader Polzer on this much maligned and misunderstood woman of the New Testament, who could be considered the first Apostle. Grab your Ice Cream Sundae after worship and join us in the Lounge for the stimulating conversation.

2026-27 Pledge Drive News:
We have surpassed our goal!
To celebrate our success, we will hold a “Sunday Sundae” - that is, an ice cream feast, after worship on Sunday, October 18. This is also the Sunday of Blessing of the Beasts, so we hope to see lots of families (and pets) that day.
If you have not pledged yet, it’s not too late! Or, if you donate regularly without pledging, you can turn this into a pledge by sending Devon an email at office@peaceunited.org to let her know in writing.
The stewardship committee is a vibrant group that does more than organize the annual fund drive. We honor and promote all the ways we move forward as a community. We are blessed to be able to do so much, beyond the annual fund drive. Consider joining us!
Our next meeting will be held Tuesday, October 27 at 3pm.
Contact Tony Augimeri, chair of Stewardship, via email at pastmoderator@peaceunited.org.

A Request for Help
A member of our congregation is experiencing significant strain and has reached a point where they can no longer manage every responsibility alone. They have been encouraged by their care team to seek help from the community, a difficult step for them, but a necessary one.
Assistance with phone calls, paperwork, research, and navigating services during business hours would be especially helpful. Even an hour of time each week could make a meaningful difference.
If you have time, organizational skills, or a willingness to lend a hand, please contact the office or Pastor Dave.

Acronym Games!
It was fun reading the anagrams submitted for Peace.
Why stop there?
This month the Stewardship Committee would like you to come up with anagrams for the word… UNITED.
Please send me your ideas for these anagrams at lisasuehoesing@Gmail.com.
I know they will be creative!

Prayers of Gratitude
- For new and old faces in our community. May we continue to walk our spiritual journeys together and support each other on our path.
- For those who give of their time and resources to this church and its many programs. We are the hands, feet, and face of God!
- For the passion and commitment of children and youth, who inspire all of us to pursue a better world and open our hearts and minds to different ways of being and pursuing reconciliation, justice, joy, and peace.
- For everyone who votes!
- For those who dare to speak truth to power and defy unjust systems. May we all find the bravery to resist injustice and amplify voices that are unheard. Gratitude for people who speak out despite risks to their livelihood and comfort.
- For those who make space for difficult conversations and disagreements in our increasingly polarized environment.
In Jesus’ Holy Name, Amen!
