Genevieve Frederick,  Founder/President, wrote, "Before we knew it, we had friends from around the country willing to help recruit donation sites, deliver pet food to food banks, or take pet food out to the streets where the homeless congregate."

Your Donations at Work...
Pets of the Homeless received a call from a homeless man who stays in his car with his Pit Bull Terrier puppy, Karma. Karma had worms, and was favoring her back right leg.  Pets of the Homeless approved an examination.

The veterinarian recommended a parvovirus test that we approved.  Thankfully, the results were negative.  The veterinarian donated flea control and heartworm preventative.  Pets of the Homeless also assisted with dewormer, a parvovirus vaccination, and pain medications.  Her leg was just bruised.

Become a Donation Site
for Pets of the Homeless
One of our goals for 2017 is to grow the number of donation sites to every state.  Based on the American Council on Science and Health 2015 report, some of the cities and counties with the highest concentrations of homeless populations are Springfield & Boston, MA; Honolulu, HI; Washington, DC; New York, NY; San Francisco, Santa Rosa/Sonoma County, Monterey County and Benito County, CA.  These locations have between 600 - 1,945 homeless per 100,000 people.

Are you a business in one of the noted areas?
As a business owner or manager, becoming a member donation site is one way you can give back to your community while helping hundreds of pets that are hungry. As a donation site, you will be providing the public and your customers with a convenient location to drop off pet food and supplies. You will be showing that your business is socially responsible to the less fortunate in your community.

It is easy, and there is no cost... fill out the form on our website and we will email you a donation site kit and flyer to get you started. Brochures and decals will be mailed. The kit has step-by-step instructions that will assist you. Check our Pet Food Providers page to see if there is an organization already distributing pet food in your community and call them to see if they need more pet food and let them know that you are now a donation site.
