This July, we recognize Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Month, an opportunity to amplify and address the unique mental health challenges faced by Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC). Everyone deserves access to effective mental health care, but for many people of color, systemic racism, lack of representation, and cultural differences (to name a few) can make accessing mental health care a particular challenge. People of color also often experience worsened symptoms and outcomes due to these unmet needs.
For providers seeking to make their practice more inclusive, REACH's Mental Health Blog offers a number of articles for providing culturally responsive care. To learn more about Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Month, visit Mental Health America's (MHA) website. MHA also offers advocacy tips, information on intersectionality, and mental health support tips broken down by community of color on this resource page.
Lastly, I’m pleased to share that we have a full training schedule this summer. I encourage you to scroll down and take a look at our upcoming programs like Addressing Trauma and Practical Behavior Management in Pediatric Primary Care. As always, thank you for being a part of this cherished community!
