Dear Friends,
It is hard to believe that we have already welcomed 2021. While 2020 has been a challenging year in many ways, let us celebrate our blessings and show gratitude for everything and everyone around us. We are especially thankful for our dedicated staff who make Round Hill everything that it is, our wonderful guests from all over the world, and our beloved community
Our guests have always been the reason we do what we do. We have been hard at work developing, perfecting and implementing our enhanced health and safety protocols to ensure when you are ready to travel, we are ready to welcome you. These include mandates established by the government of Jamaica and the World Health Organization, as well as specific guidelines for our staff and guests to keep us all safe.
We hope that your holidays brought you close to your loved ones, whether virtually or not, and reminded you of the strength, love and perseverance that we all have. We look forward with bright ambition to the promise of the new year.
As we celebrate, we take this opportunity to extend our gratitude for each and every one of you. May your blessings be plentiful this year and always.
One Love,
Josef Forstmayr
Managing Director
Daniel McIntyre
Meet Daniel McIntyre, affectionately known as “Tyre” and “Mr. Leg” – because of his love for chicken legs! He is the hard working gardener at Villa 1.
Recently awarded for his loyalty and devoted service for over 45 years, Daniel began working at Round Hill in 1972. He followed in the footsteps of his older brother who also worked at the resort.
Hailing from the small community of Haddington, in the hillsides of Hopewell, Daniel shares that his secret to a happy work and personal life is to remain humble, be grateful and just be happy. “There are so many people with much less than I have that are far happier, so why would I not be happy with all that I have?” he expressed.
For Daniel, Round Hill holds a very special place in his heart as his brother with whom he started his employment migrated and passed away in the United States. He loves his job, expressing that the property is a great place to work as you make a living making people happy, and they also take care of you.
When he is not working, Daniel likes to relax with his wife, Marvia, and spend quality time with his 6 children and grandchildren – which he says is too much to count. He also enjoys having drinks with friends and listening to Reggae music, particularly the melodies of Bob Marley and the Wailers.
We are pleased to announce the launch of our app. Guests can check-in on their mobile device and make the most of their stay at the resort by requesting services, getting updates, booking spa appointments and sending digital postcards using the app. [Download app]

  • Villa 28 is the only villa that faces the sunrise. All other villas see the sunset.

  • The first swimming pool at Round Hill was built by Adele Astaire who was the first owner of Cottage 25.

  • Villa 10 was known as the “Honeymoon Villa” in the 60s & 70s. It was a favorite of JFK and Jackie O, and hosted the likes of Ralph Lauren, Paul McCartney and Pierce Brosnan.

We have implemented enhanced health and safety protocols to ensure a safe environment for all, while preserving the spirit of Round Hill.
On arrival at the resort, guests will have their temperature taken and an amenity kit with Round Hill branded face masks, sanitizer and sanitization wipes is placed in each room for guest use during their stay. Face masks are worn and social distancing implemented in public areas. Sanitizer dispensers are placed at strategic points throughout the resort for the convenience of guests.
Our public areas are cleaned frequently with a focus on high touch surfaces. Guest rooms and villas are disinfected daily using EPA registered disinfectants and cleaners and arriving rooms are sprayed electrostatically and sealed for 24 hours before check-in. Nightly turn-down service is optional.
All staff members have been trained in COVID-19 protocols and have a good understanding of the virus and its transmission. Staff members are screened with temperature check upon entry of the resort and wear the appropriate personal protective equipment while on the job.
We have partnered with a local medical practitioner to provide rapid on-site COVID-19 testing. The result for antigen tests is available within fifteen minutes and PCR test result is available in 48 hours. For more information regarding on-property testing click here.

In 1990, Swiss couple Dr. Ruinell Sigg-Fanoe and his wife Mrs. Susse Sigg-Fanoe stayed at Round Hill Hotel and Villas for the very first time. This would be the first of many stays and the start of a beautiful relationship as since then the Sigg-Fanoes have vacationed at Round Hill every year, usually for four weeks.
During their most recent visit, they were honoured as two of the resort’s longest repeat guests during a tree planting ceremony where a guango tree was dedicated to them, complete with a plaque bearing their names. The ceremony was attended by their family and a few staff members. At the ceremony, managing director, Josef Forstmayr, spoke about the beauty and long lifespan of the guango tree – also known as the rain tree – which is the perfect symbol of the loyalty of the Sigg-Fanoe family.
