We have been overwhelmed with the positive feedback and support from passionate people like you who are excited to support our OBX national parks. Thank you for making our official launch a huge success - and a special thank you to our local business partners !

With our launch last month, we announced our first two projects to support your parks: the Love the Beach, Respect the Ocean campaign and our Adopt A Pony program. We look forward to rolling out more project announcements in the near future - stay tuned!

So what's next?

Last week we welcomed our founding Board of Directors to Fort Raleigh National Historic Site for our first ever Board meeting. Our founding Board will be instrumental in shaping our budding organization and ensuring we build a strong foundation of support for your OBX national parks. We'll be sending out an official announcement to introduce you to these dedicated community members in the coming weeks.

We've also begun planning for two summer events you don't want to miss: the 20th Anniversary of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse Move and One Giant Leap: 50th Anniversary of the Apollo Moon Landing at the Wright Brothers National Memorial. Check out the details below and mark your calendars!

National Trails Day

Join us to celebrate National Trails Day with a morning walk on the beach!

Did you know that when you're enjoying a walk at Cape Hatteras National Seashore, you're also enjoying a walk on the Mountains to Sea Trail? The Mountains-to-Sea Trail is North Carolina’s state hiking trail, stretching 1175 miles from the Great Smoky Mountains to the Outer Banks.

Location : Coquina Beach, Ramp 2

We're partnering with the Friends of the Mountains to Sea Trail to explore where these two great resources converge. Meet us at Ramp 2 (Coquina Beach) and enjoy a mile walk between the dunes, then return with a mile walk on the beach for 2 miles total.

20th Anniversary of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse Move

20 years ago, locals and visitors witnessed a historic feat of engineering as the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse was moved 2900 feet over the course of 23 days to its current location.

Join us as we help the park and the Outer Banks Lighthouse Society celebrate this special anniversary with local accounts of the move, a Q&A with expert panelists, artifacts from the move, special ranger talks, activities for kids, and more.

One Giant Leap: 50th Anniversary of the
Apollo Moon Landing

50 years ago at the site of man's first powered flight, hundreds gathered to watch man's first steps on the moon. Join us as we go back in time and explore how the Wright Brothers' innovation led to this monumental event, and how far we've come since then.
As you explore the park after hours you'll enjoy special ranger talks, a rebroadcast of the original news coverage of the moon landing, and more.
