Family Matters: Understanding Your Risk for GI Cancer

Dr. Sonia Kupfer, gastroenterologist, and Jessica Stoll, genetic counselor with the Gastrointestinal Cancer Risk and Prevention Clinic at UChicago Medicine, work with patients and families at risk for gastrointestinal malignancies due to genetic factors or family history. They will discuss updates in hereditary factors and familial risk for cancer in the emerging era of precision medicine. 
This program is supported by the Rolfe Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.

Therapy Dogs for Kids

Tuesday, July 10, 5:30 - 6:30 pm

Animal-assisted therapy (AAT) has been linked to reductions in stress and anxiety, as well as improved mood. Join us for a chance to interact with therapy dogs, and to experience an alternative way for healthy stress reduction. The program is intended for kids ages 5-18 and their families.

Eating Well Through the Year: Summertime Nutrition

Tuesday, July 10, 6:00 - 7:30 pm

The summer season is upon us and we all want to feel and be our best. This program will share a plethora of nutrition tips and recommendations to help you stay well throughout the season. Specific areas of discussion will include: general tips, hydration, exercise, fresh and local produce, recipes and meal ideas, mindful eating, and healthy meal swaps.

Walking Meditation at the Botanic Garden

Friday, July 13, 9:30 - 10:30 am

Join us for a sensory/nature meditation walk at the Chicago Botanic Garden on Lake Cook Road. Meet in the Visitor Center lobby and wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for the weather. If you are not a Garden member, the gatehouse will allow free entry to those attending the class.

Now Recruiting: Weight Loss For Wellness
Weight gain is an often overlooked result of cancer treatment. In weekly meetings, group members will be guided by a licensed clinical therapist, and a registered dietitian who is a board certified specialist in oncology nutrition. Regular exercise demonstrations will reinforce the physical activity component of weight loss. This program is open to anyone who has completed treatment within the last two years. Participants must commit to attend the program for six months. 

New  groups starting at our  Northbrook and Grayslake  locations  in  July.

NorthShore Kellogg Cancer Center will be hosting an informational and educational event featuring three of their experts.

Speakers: Dr. Kaplan, Dr. Kaminer and Dr. Grinblatt

Event is FREE and will include a light dinner and complimentary parking.
