From resolving the 135-day budget stalemate to PAMED submitting comments on AI and noncompete agreements, here’s what’s been happening in Pennsylvania. Read more:

🏛️Pennsylvania Passes Budget After 135-Day Stalemate Pennsylvania lawmakers and Governor Josh Shapiro ended a 135-day stalemate by approving a $50.09 billion budget for FY 2025-26. The plan raised spending by $2.3 billion (4.7%), kept the $8 billion Rainy Day Fund intact, withdrew the state from the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, and avoided broad tax hikes. It directed nearly $1 billion to K-12 education, created the Working Pennsylvanians Tax Credit, and boosted health and human services funding.

Importantly, the General Assembly preserved the Primary Care Line Item, which supported physician loan repayment and a state-funded residency program.

📝 PAMED Submits Comments on AI and Noncompete Agreements Recently, PAMED submitted comments in response to requests for information issued by two different federal organizations, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and the Federal Trade Commission.

A Thanksgiving Message from the CEO

As we pause to reflect on this season, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to each of you, our PAMED members, for your dedication to the practice of medicine and the health of our communities.

This year, PAMED has built on a strong foundation of advocacy, innovation, and collaboration. Together, we’ve stood firm against scope of practice expansion, championed public health, and celebrated the achievements of physicians making a profound impact; from our Distinguished Service and Community Voluntary Service Award recipients to our Top Physicians Under 40 and Innovation Grant winners.

Your leadership, your voice, and your commitment to excellence continue to shape the future of medicine in Pennsylvania. We are deeply thankful for your membership and proud to support you.

Wishing you and your loved ones a joyful and restorative Thanksgiving.
