On September 14, NJBIA will host our 4th annual Women Business Leaders Forum.The event will be held at the Newark Airport Marriott. This event brings women and men together to network and identify how to unlock the c-suite and increase gender diversity in corporate leadership.

This year's theme "Empowering Together" will provide educational breakout sessions (with the ability to attend two different sessions) that will provide professional development in networking, communications, negotiations and dealing with challenges in the workplace.

DFS Takes Action to Ensure a Continued Healthy & Competitive 2019 NY Health Insurance Market Despite Continued Wrongful Federal Attacks on the ACA

"In the face of a sustained attack by the federal government on the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Financial Services Superintendent Maria T. Vullo today announced that the Department of Financial Services (DFS) has reduced health insurers' 2019 requested rates for New York's individual market by 64% overall for individuals, saving consumers $314 million. DFS also reduced requested rates for 2019 small group plans by 50%, saving small businesses $279 million.

Nearly 1.4 million New Yorkers are enrolled in individual and small group plans. New York was one of the first states in the nation to implement its own health insurance exchange under the ACA. Since then, New York has cut the uninsured rate in half from 10% to 5% and premiums in the individual market have remained more than 55% lower after adjusting for inflation and before the application of federal tax credits." Formerly a school teacher, Nikki saw her students struggling with basic life skills such as organization and communication, but didn't see her students get the support they needed. Teacher's assumed parents would do it; parent's assumed teachers would do it. As a result, the students were left to fend for themselves. Nikki combines evidence-based research with a straight-shooter but friendly attitude to empower students with the skills they need to succeed in the real world, not just school.
