Advent Quiet Days at Bellwether Farm
Set aside time to enter into the expectation and anticipation of the Advent season with a Quiet Day at Bellwether Farm on December 4, 5, or 6. Each day will offer four self-guided Advent stations, centered on different themes. Incorporating Scripture, reflection/discussion questions, poetry, and hands-on activities (including a DIY Advent wreath). Every station will provide space for quiet and prayer. This event is family friendly, and is designed to have something to offer every generation. A simple, COVID-safe, boxed lunch will be provided, as well as “Praying of the Hours” for a corporate worship experience. Registration is $20 per person and includes the cost of lunch. You are welcome to stay for the whole day or come and go as you please.
Spiritual Walk at Bellwether Farm
Bellwether Farm will offer a Creation Walk on December 6 from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. This spiritual walk will explore the Freedom Poetry of Maya Angelou. Through Angelou’s poetry, we will reflect on the Advent themes of hope, peace, joy, and love. As we prepare our heart, soul, and body for an Advent season that may not look like any other, let’s connect with the Divine through each other and God’s creation. A simple soup supper, served in accordance with state and Diocesan protocols, will be available following, and a freewill offering will be collected. Please note that this walk will be offered in almost any weather conditions. This spiritual walk will be offered in conjunction with Bellwether Farm’s Advent Quiet Days. Please register for these events separately.
New Parochial Report Form
The parochial report form has been expanded to 8 pages from the current 5 for 2020. Most of the new information requested concerns the COVID pandemic, including PPP loan information, the number of online and in-person services, the effect of the pandemic on youth and children’s participation in worship, use of technology, and a new section on racial justice and reconciliation. More information will be forthcoming, but please review it here so that your parish can begin gathering information needed for the report.
PPP Loan Forgiveness
The AICPA has developed two tools to help with the application for PPP Loan forgiveness. The first is an Excel spreadsheet that walks through all the calculations required to prepare the application request. The second tool will actually determine which of the forgiveness forms is needed and prepare a signature ready application form based on the data entered.
Los Amigos Episcopales Fundraiser
Due to COVID-19, Los Amigos Episcopales (LAE) will not be able to have its traditional Soup Supper fundraising event this fall. In lieu of this, LAE is conducting a fundraising appeal until the end of the 2020. Our main mission is to support the vocational, educational, social, and Humanitarian programs of the Anglican-Episcopal Diocese of El Salvador. LAE provides the sole support for one of four Montessori Schools run by the Diocese - La Davina Providencia. LAE also supports the Diocese's new Seminary with four seminarians to be ordained in early 2021. During the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic complicated by other natural disasters, we are proving funding to help the Diocese of El Salvador provide food security to parishioners. For more information about how you can donate to LAE, go to www.losamigosepiscopales.org.
Young Adult Grants
The Young Adult Ministry Grant, funded by the United Thank Offering (UTO) and distributed by the Diocesan Young Adult Task Force, is a new grant to encourage parishes, mission areas, etc. to experiment and take bold action to attract and engage young adults (19-30). Applications will be reviewed monthly, and funds must be used by May 2021. Members of the task force are available to brainstorm with you, and have included some ideas in the grant application.
Learn, Pray, Act
Resources from the Episcopal Church for addressing racist violence are available. This is a growing list of litanies, learning opportunities, and suggested actions and connections from across The Episcopal Church and beyond. There are links to some specialized resources on the Diocesan website. As you are thinking about how to respond in your parish and community, please be in touch with the Rev.
