What's New on Mackinac Island 2015



Voted a "Top Ten Island in the U.S." by Trip Advisor and numerous other entities, here's what's new for you on Mackinac Island this summer.



Pure Michigan Boat Cruises and the Arnold Transit Company have partnered to bring you unique and luxurious Straits of Mackinac tours aboard the  "Isle Royal Queen III", a charming 81' vessel featuring multiple outdoor viewing areas and heated indoor cabins, restrooms, a cash bar and state-of-the-art sound system.

A variety of themed cruises are available this summer. Sip a cocktail as you enjoy a romantic sunset cruise or take in the sights with family aboard a Mackinac Bridge excursion or celebrate a special occasion with the fireworks and starry summer sky.

Just named Michigan's Most Iconic Bar by Thrillist, Pink Pony has added twelve additional draft beers for a total of twenty six, showcasing Michigan's great beer assortment. The Pony also added an expanded sports television package so you won't miss your home town team!

Guests visiting Lilac Tree Suites and Spa will enjoy freshly painted rooms, new pull out couches and fresh home-made cookies turn-down service  at the only all-suite hotel located in the heart of downtown Mackinac Island.

The Chippewa Waterfront will greet guests this season with updated rooms. All rooms are freshly painted and guests here can also look forward to fresh Homemade cookies turn-down service. 

Grand Hotel, just named among the 50 Most Romantic Honeymoon Destinations in the United States by Yahoo,  added three new Cupola Suites for 2 015.  Each suite has a bedroom with a king bed, a parlor and t he option of connecting to a bedroom with two queen beds - the  perfect addition for families needing extra space and a separate  room for children.  The Cupola Suites provide guests with t he flexibility of  reserving just the king room and the parlor as a One-Be droom suite or both bedrooms and the parlor can be reserved a s a Two- Bedroom suite. Guests will also be greeted with 104 new flat screen televisions in the guest rooms and new custom stone wall flower beds in the Tea Garden.  Chairs in the Main Dining Room and furniture in Peacock Alley will be freshly recovered.

Grand is also offering new innovative packages including a Dorothy Draper Decorating Weekend and a first ever fun filled Halloween Weekend.


Great Turtle Kayaks has a new retail location for 2015!

Located in the Horse Corral Mall on Main Street, they are selling apparel, paddling gear, and also taking reservations from their new location.

Liberty Lego Display is expanding their Mackinac Island location in the Bicycle Street Shops on Main Street to make room for a huge new exhibit. Kids of all ages will enjoy the 2,000 square Lego City that is 30-Feet long and 70-Inches across made up of over 700,000 Bricks!  The Exhibit has well known Lego lines such as Pirates, Harry Potter, Chima, Star Wars, Friends and more!  Group Rates and Family Pricing are available.  

The Richard and Jane Manoogian Mackinac Art Museum is presenting: "Peaceful Mackinac" as the theme for the 2015 art exhibition. 

The newly constructed "Peace Garden" adjacent to the art museum, honors the 200 years of peace between the United States and Canada. The Peace Garden and renovations at Fort Holmes are expected to be dedicated July 18, the anniversary of the US returning to Mackinac after the war.

Mission Point Resort

Mission Point Resort has new owners! The Ware Family, who also own Silver Birches, purchased Mission Point Resort this winter and have exciting things planned for the upcoming seasons. 

Shepler's Mackinac Island Ferry, celebrating 70 Years of Service this year, is debuting a new ferry! The climate controlled 85-foot, all-aluminum ferry will be christened "Miss Margy." 

The new vessel includes an air-conditioned cabin, as well as a ventilation system to remove interior condensation from windows and improving the view for passengers during inclement weather.
