7:30 p.m. DCCA President welcome with neighborhood updates followed by our featured speaker, DC Council Chairman Phil Mendelson who will speak to and answer questions about neighborhood interests including the current crime wave, the 1617U Street Project, affordable housing and updates on the ongoing issue of some DC sports teams moving to Virginia.

Special thanks to members who volunteered to help out with refreshment, chair, and audio-visual setup and breakdown!

In-person membership meetings are open to the neighborhood - non-members are welcome to attend this event and join DCCA.
1617U Street Update
A zoning commission hearing on the issue was held on Monday, February 26th and it has again been continued until March 18th. We will continue to update you as we learn more.

Parking Reminder - Street Sweep Resumes in March!

The Department of Public Works (DPW) will begin posted residential street sweeping on Monday, March 4th . The program runs through October. Keep alert to avoid fines and being towed.

DCCA thanks Peter Sacco...
For his long service as executive director of ANC2B, and we congratulate him on his new position in The Mayor's Office on Volunteerism and Partnerships. As executive director, Peter kept the ANC and its committee meetings running smoothly, and facilitated our communications with the ANC whether we were working collaboratively with or in opposition to the ANC’s position. Metro asks for Public Input
Facing an unprecedented $750 million budget shortfall in the coming year, Metro is asking the public to provide feedback on the proposed 2025 budget which includes drastic service cuts, fare increases, layoffs, and other severe cost cutting measures.

The public is encouraged to review the proposed FY25 budget and provide comments through an online survey, comments should be submitted no later than Tuesday, March 5, at 5 p.m.

DC Department of Energy and Environment announced the 17th annual Rooting DC Conference. This day-long event started in 2007 as a small gathering of 150 urban gardeners and has grown into an annual event with hundreds of attendees and local experts from across the region. This year's event includes educational workshops, networking space, and valuable community building where local food systems stakeholders share their knowledge and learn from one another. Fix It DC

Fix-It DC events held by the city are community repair events dedicated to changing the “throw-it-away” mentality. Visitors bring their broken items to the Fix-It DC event where volunteer Fix-It coaches provide guidance in troubleshooting how to repair each item. The next event is on March 16th – Registration Opening Soon click here for more information.

Event organizers are also looking for coaches to help other residents try to repair their small household items. If you are interested in coaching, please sign up here.
