Advisors - Below you will find all of the Detour content that is being shared tonight with subdivided groups. We would also like to invite you to join us for a Zoom meeting on Sunday, April 5 at 6 P.M. EST to discuss Detour content and your role in this journey.

We are faced with tough choices every time the road turns unexpectedly. BUT, because you had the foresight to choose a lifetime of sisterhood, you will never be alone on your journey.

The path may not be what it originally seemed, but you are supported to overcome every detour that comes your way. While out of our control, detours challenge our character and hold us accountable to our commitments.

Because of the Oath you ONCE took, you are ALWAYS a sister with a plan and a path forward. Follow the turns, lean into the curves and stay grounded to the road ahead.

This may not have been the path you had in mind as you began this semester with excitement and optimism, but we invite you to trust in us. As sisters we are choosing to connect and engage with one another in new and exciting ways. Follow us . . . the journey through begins here.

NEW MEMBER PROGRAMS

THE PHI PROGRAM

Pardon the interruption! Your regular weekly Phi Program education meetings will resume online throughout the month of April. Depending on where your SDC left off, your new member class will complete the learning using your chapter’s new Zoom account. Each lesson will require you to view prerecorded content, complete reflections and then participate with your new member class and SDC in a discussion and fellowship online. Modules will go live April 5.

THE BUILD - WE BUILD TO OUR WALLS - SEPTEMBER 2020

New members, we know this isn’t the experience you imagined. Rites of passage are important and because initiation is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to commit to a life-long membership in the organization, we have created a special opportunity for those who had their initiation postponed.

All current new members will be initiated during the largest initiation observance in the history of the organization in September 2020 (date TBD). To mark the occasion:

All new members will be initiated in-person with their chapters on the same day in September.
All new members will receive a limited-edition Detour dangle presented on their membership badge.
Members of Supreme Council & Headquarters Staff will preside over select initiations in a gesture of gratitude.

The detour you are experiencing as a graduating senior has the potential to highlight just how important the support of sisters is when transitioning to the "real world."

As many of you are currently experiencing gaps in student services and resources, there is a strong need for professional guidance, networking and coaching.

Phi Sigma Sigma prides itself on having over 30,000 professional alumnae around the world in a wide range of industries. We want to ensure you are successful engaging our network through a guided mentoring program where you will receive one-on-one virtual mentoring, guidance for job applications, interview prep and the critical resources to promote success.

APPLY FOR A MENTOR – receive one-on-one virtual mentoring, guidance for job applications, interview prep and the critical resources to promote success from Phi Sig alumnae in your field.

ENGAGE IN DISCUSSION BOARDS – Interact with other senior members from across the country to widen your network and support one another – maybe vent a little too.

RSVP FOR YOUR VIRTUAL SENIOR PROGRESSION CEREMONY – During the week of May 3-9, the Fraternity will host virtual ritual ceremonies for groups of seniors.

BE RECOGNIZED – Keep an eye on social media as we celebrate and highlight all you have accomplished and all that is in front of you as you enter the real world.

BE ON THE LOOKOUT – Keep an eye out for communications from your chapter’s senior chairmen as they dedicate the week of May 3-9 to you!

APPLY FOR FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS – Continuing your education in graduate school? Deadline has been extended until May 1.

EXPLORE OUR PHI SIG AMBASSADOR PROGRAM – Moving to a new city? Phi Sig has got you covered. Many major metropolitan areas maintain a Phi Sig ambassador to assist you with recommendations and directions as you start a new home.

UPDATE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS – If you are receiving this email on your college/university email account now is a great time to update your Phi Sig account with your personal/permanent email address.

MARCH 29 - MAY3

You’ve been to chapter meeting, but as we come together as one PHI SIGMA SIGMA, we will be hosting weekly, virtual Fraternity Meetings. A guest “presiding officer” will go live on our Instagram to announce all updates and announcements in a familiar format. Immediately following the online event, the recording and detailed “minutes” will be distributed to all collegiate members across the country.
