WOW,
only a couple of weeks of the sale is left. What can you do to keep improving your sale, whether you participated in the Show and Sell portion of the campaign or not?
There are a few things to consider. Does everyone know when your unit deadlines are? One of the great things about deadlines is everyone knows when they need to have things wrapped up and turned in. Unit orders are due by midnight,
Tuesday October 29
th
.
This is true for both Camp Masters and your Email me form order form for Whitley’s Nut Factory. You will want to make sure that your families know when you need their information, so you can compile your order and place it. Be sure to give yourself a day or two, depending on the size you anticipate your order to be. The larger the order the more time you will need. You may want to have the Scouts get their orders to you before the return deadlines of
October 27
th
or 28
th
,
so that you can take advantage of filling those orders from your left over Show and Sell product.
Another consideration for increasing your Take order sale is
Wagon
Draggin
’
.
If you haven’t organized one yet be sure to set one weekend aside for one. You will want to organize your
Wagon
Draggin
’
so that your area is covered. See issue seven of
What’s Poppin’
for more on
Wagon
Draggin’
. What if you didn’t participate in Show and Sell? Set up canvassing coverage just like you would a
Wagon Draggin

.
Divide the neighborhoods into areas and assign your scouts to make sure no area is missed. Remember that only one out of ten people are asked to support Scouts through the sale, so 90 percent of the population hasn’t been asked yet.
Weekly reports. Are you having weekly reports at your Den or Patrol meetings? Are you offering any unit prizes to encourage sales? Do you have any inter-patrol or den competitions? What about a
pizza party
for the group that has the highest group sales for that week, cooperative rewards can be a great motivator and get the entire team behind your sale. Or maybe an additional $5.00, or an additional percentage in the youth account, if you use them, of the youth that had the greatest sales that week. Be creative. Keep energy and enthusiasm up. You have 2 more weekends to have your best sale yet.
MANAGING UNIT RETURNS AND PRODUCT NEED
We hope your sale is going well. For some of our units the sale is going very well. In fact, we need several products. We are currently out of 3-way
Cheesey Cheese
Tin, Roasted Summer Corn
,
Caramel Corn,
Purple Popping Corn,
Honey Roasted Troops
Peanuts and Salted Cashews.
If you are done with Show and Sells, or nearly done please consider an early return. This will not only relieve you of tracking product that isn’t selling and free up space in your living room but will help other units as well. If you would like to do an early return, please contact Scott Arnold at

Before you return your remaining product on either the
27
th
or 28
th
consider keeping what you need to fill your Take Order orders. Have your “
Take Order
” orders turned in before you return so that you can pull your “Take Order” needs out before returning your product. This will minimize what you are bringing back, make your returns quicker, prevent you from handling product multiple times, and in the long run making things easier on you.
Just remember that you must return all product
before
7:00 PM on the 28
th
.
Your “Take Order” order is due
Wednesday, October 29
th
,
only one day after your returns are due. Watch future issues for “Take Order” pickup information.
