Hello Theatre Lovers!

Today is certainly an interesting day! It is the second time we have celebrated World Theatre Day during the pandemic, with no theatres really open! I think it would be fair to say that during this past year we have realized just how important the arts and live theatre is to us. Thank you to all the artists who have tried so hard this past year to pivot and to continue to entertain us. And thank you to all our supporters who have helped us through this difficult past year and continue to support us. Live theatre will be back, and just like in the 1920’s we will celebrate the Roaring Twenties!

We only have 25 Cobs Bread vouchers left!

Thank you to everyone who has already purchased a voucher or sold them for us. Everyone loves COBS’ delicious breads and pastries! If you have not got your voucher yet here is the scoop: We are selling Cobs vouchers (or as Anne calls them “Theatre Cobs-ingwood vouchers”) for $20 each, and Theatre Collingwood will receive $17 from each purchase in support of our 2021 programming! The voucher entitles you to get a FREE item every time you visit their store, for 6 visits. It is worth $30 and lists 6 different items to choose from, one per visit. The store is located at 151 First Street, Unit 6, Collingwood and the voucher is valid until March 2022. To purchase your Cobs Bakery Voucher just go to our website and click on tickets (it will look like you are buying a show ticket). You can also order vouchers by phone at 705-445-2200 or by emailing us HERE.
Multi-award winning, chart-topping Indigenous artists Twin Flames build bridges across cultures, continents, and styles. The husband and wife duo of Chelsey June, métis (Algonquin Cree) from Ottawa, and Jaaji, Inuk and Mohawk from Nunavik, are long celebrated for their sonic landscapes spanning Canada and the Arctic, and honouring their ancestors through song in English, Inuttitut and French.

2x Canadian Folk Music Award recipients for Aboriginal Songwriters of the year and 3x Native American Music Award winners, their songs tell stories of courage and survival. They are a powerhouse couple with 24 music award nominations and have played more than 1000+ shows throughout Canada, Greenland, the United States, Australia and France. They’re well on their way to becoming a Canadian household name.
Check out their beautiful song HUMAN
And here is what they did when the pandemic stopped them from touring this past year!

The Town of Collingwood is partnering with Nordicity Group and Giaimo Architects in the undertaking of an Arts Centre Feasibility Study. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the needs of the arts and culture sectors in the community, and to determine if and to what degree an arts and cultural centre would be feasible in Collingwood. If you have not already done so, we are asking that you complete this very important survey this weekend, before it closes on Monday! It takes about 10 minutes. To find it go to:

Within the survey, there are many opportunities to highlight and underscore the needs of artists and the creative sector with your own comments. Please take this opportunity to express your support of artists and those working in the creative sector.
Join me this Wednesday, March 31st, at 7pm on our Facebook Live show “The Stage Door” for more behind the scenes talk. We will be announcing some exciting news about our PORCHSIDE FESTIVAL! Check it out on our Facebook page. To view our past episodes visit www.theatrecollingwood.ca. Have a wonderful month and celebrate spring!
