What's The Deal With Fish Oil?
Fish contains unsaturated fat called omega-3 fatty acids which are considered essential fatty acids in your body, meaning your body cannot produce them. That means you have to get them through food. Omega-3s have become increasingly talked about for their ability to decrease triglycerides and reduce the risk of heart disease, along with many other health benefits.

Fish high in omega-3s are considered fatty fish such as tuna, mackerel, salmon, herring, and halibut. To benefit from the omega 3 fatty acids, it is recommendation is to eat these fish one to two times per week. Other good sources include flaxseeds, walnuts, beechnuts, and vegetable oils such as canola, soybean, corn, sunflower, and safflower. If you are considering taking fish oil as a supplement, be sure to talk with your doctor for dose recommendations and possible drug interactions.
