Building Condition Assessments and Capital Investments Underway for all Villa Charities Facilities
Villa Charities, through a public RFP process, has engaged Stantec to conduct a Building Conditions Assessment (BCA) Report on each of the buildings and infrastructure equipment. All building assessment final reports are expected by the end of the summer. We are also underway with numerous capital investments and upgrades to our facilities.

Villa Charities continued its series of campus visioning sessions last week with an event for staff and management. Staff from Villa Charities and the affiliates met on July 25th to participate in a visioning exercise that explored from their perspective the key priorities looking forward.

Early Bird registration for the Columbus Centre School of Music’s 2018/2019 season has been extended to August 8. Columbus Centre Athletic Club’s Free Pop-up Fitness Classes Continue All Summer
These free, hour-long classes at the Columbus Centre Athletic Club fitness studios and the Columbus Centre courtyard give you access to your favourite group programs and new classes as well. Our Columbus Centre Summer Camp programs will spark your child’s curiosity and encourage them to explore everything from nature to sports, food, art and more. Visit the Viva Vitalità Italiana exhibition, on now at the Joseph D. Carrier Art Gallery at the Columbus Centre. The showcase includes the photography exhibit “The Valley of the Temples, Agrigento, Sicily,” by Marcello Tarantino and “Spotlight on Italian-Canadian Women Artists,” which includes sculptures, paintings and photography by nine, contemporary, Italian-Canadian women artists. The exhibit runs until August 31.

Villa Colombo Vaughan Residents Enjoy Harvest from Garden
Residents from Villa Colombo Vaughan have begun to harvest and enjoy the fruits and vegetables from the facility’s own gardens, including zucchini flowers, tomatoes and cucumbers. The items from the garden are also used for the Cucina Rustica cooking socials, which are held weekly.

Don’t Miss “Maestro! The Films of Luchino Visconti,” Presented by the TIFF Cinemateque
The TIFF Cinemateque presents a retrospective dedicated to Italian Filmmaker Luchino Visconti: “Maestro! The Films of Luchino Visconti,” on now until August 19. Organized in collaboration with Istituto Luce Cinecittà, this retrospective will showcase the full range of Visconti’s oeuvre. The program also includes the film adaptations, including “Death in Venice”, “The Stranger”, and “The Damned.” To complement the retrospective, the Istituto Italiano di Cultura will present the exhibition: “Melodramatic realism”.
