Thank You for Attending our Porte Aperte - Inverno / Winter Open House
We would like to thank everyone who attended our Porte Aperte – Inverno / Winter Open House event on Saturday, February 23, presented by LiUNA. Over 300 people of all ages from the entire community participated in an afternoon of free activities and events on the Villa Charities campus including a hockey shoot-out challenge, fire pit with s’mores, carnival games, and music and dance performances. Be sure to visit our ice skating rink, which will be open to the community daily until March 25.

Show Off Your Dance Moves at our March Break Camp
At our Columbus Centre March Break Dance Camp, campers aged 6 to 12 will enjoy a daily schedule of hip-hop, modern, jazz and musical theatre dance styles in an atmosphere where they can explore their full potential and have fun! There will also be a performance on the last day and parents are welcome to attend. Camp runs from March 11-15, register now!

Second Session for Impressionist Painting Just Added
Due to popular demand, we have added a second session for our impressionist painting workshop “Water Lilies”. Join us on Thursday, April 4 at 6:30pm at the Columbus Centre, where we will be crafting our own interpretations of Monet’s classic painting. Classes are available for $40 + HST per person. All materials including paint and a canvas will be provided.

Students at DanzArts Toronto to Perform at 2019 Company Showcase
Our competitive students at DanzArts Toronto at the Columbus Centre are busy rehearsing for their big performance at the annual DanzArts Toronto Company Showcase on March 7 at the Cardinal Carter Academy for the Arts. This will be the first time that our competitive dancers will be performing all of their routines at the showcase. Come support our dancers and buy your tickets for our 2019 Company Showcase!

Our free Cultural Tuesdays series continues at the Columbus Centre. U of T professor of Italian Studies, Luca Somigli will present “Fascista: At the Crossroads of Traditionalism and Modernity” on March 5 at 7pm, and Franco Gallippi will be presenting a new series on “Rome Through Cinema,” beginning on March 19 at 7pm.

Independent Seniors’ Apartments Host Valentine’s Day Festivities
On February 14, our Independent Seniors’ Apartments hosted special Valentine’s Day themed events for the residents. Our residents at both Casa Abruzzo and Casa Del Zotto were treated to a delicious meal and enjoyed listening to Italian-themed music.

On February 27, Villa Colombo Toronto hosted their latest family support group session at the Family Resource Centre. Families had the opportunity to share their experience with long-term care and discuss dealing with the failing health of a loved one. Residents at Villa Colombo Vaughan Enjoy Prom Social Event
On February 19, Villa Colombo Vaughan invited residents to attend their Prom Social event. The residents were treated to champagne, cake and enjoyed a musical performance by The Sparklettes. This lovely afternoon concluded with the crowning of the Prom King and Queen.

Throwback to the “Faces of the GIRO” Photography Exhibit Opening Reception
In November 2017, members of the community attended the Joseph D. Carrier Art Gallery at the Columbus Centre for the opening night reception of the “Faces of the GIRO” photography exhibit by Frank Mazzuca and Mike Sobocan. This unique exhibition celebrated the cyclists who participated in our 2017 cycling fundraiser with a collection of stunning, one-of-a-kind headshots of each of the riders.

Toronto City Opera’s Performance of "La Traviata"
Our friends at Toronto City Opera will present “La Traviata” by Giuseppe Verdi, March 28 – 31 at the Al Green Theatre at the Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre. This performance piece depicts the 19th century classic created by composer Giuseppe Verdi and modernizes the story of love and loss into our own time and place. Please note this performance will be sung in Italian with English surtitles.
