Villa Charities Visioning Project Final Report Now Available
We would like to express our thanks to everyone who attended our Community Open Forum on Tuesday, March 26. We greatly value all the feedback we received, that will help us create a master campus plan to best meet the needs of Italian-Canadians and an increasingly diverse community for generations to come. The final comprehensive report from the visioning sessions is now available to review and download from the Villa Charities website.

New Interactive Theatrical Dining Experience “Leonardo’s Last Supper”
Tickets are now on sale for our world premiere production of “Leonardo’s Last Supper” at the Columbus Centre, created by internationally acclaimed theatre company DopoLavoro Teatrale (DLT) in collaboration with Istituto Italiano di Cultura Toronto. This new interactive show is half-theatrical presentation and half-immersive dining experience inspired by the masterpiece of Leonardo da Vinci, in commemoration of the 500th anniversary of his death. Tickets on Sale Now for our “In Deum” Easter Concert
Presented by Villa Charities and Centro Scuola, we invite you to join us for our “In Deum” Easter Concert featuring the Vesuvius Ensemble on April 15 at 7pm in the Joseph D. Carrier Art Gallery at the Columbus Centre. In honour of Holy Week, we are proud to present this concert featuring a unique cross-mix of popular and classical music with an emphasis on the "Mother of Sorrows”.

Columbus Centre Athletic Club Welcomes Mario Mavrides as Director
of Athletics
Please welcome Mario Mavrides, the new Director of Athletics for the Columbus Centre Athletic Club. Mario, who joined us earlier this year, brings over 22 years of experience in fitness centre and sales/marketing management as well as personal training. He previously held management positions at many of the top health and fitness companies including Fitness Connection, Gold’s Gym, Goodlife Fitness and LA Fitness. Mario looks forward to meeting all our Athletic Club members. Please stop by the Membership Office to say hello.

Reconnect with the Italian Language in New "Learn Italian By Doing" Program
This spring we are launching a new program where people can learn or practice Italian in a relaxed and "simpatico" atmosphere outside of a classroom. Come and join us to learn or polish your Italian while doing yoga or enjoying a delicious meal and conversation at Ristorante Boccaccio at the Columbus Centre.

Registration for Spring Athletics and Aquatics Programs Begins April 1
Get fit and sign up for the Columbus Centre Athletic Club's spring athletics and aquatics programs, with Member Registration beginning April 1 and Non-Member Registration beginning on April 3. We offer a wide array of classes for a range of ages, abilities and interests!

Early Bird Registration for Summer Camp Begins

The Columbus Centre Summer Camp for kids ages 4-16 is engaging, active and focused on giving your child a summer retreat where they can interact with others in a fun and exciting environment. Register your child for one of our 14 different camps between April 1 – 12 and receive $25 off each camper registration. Or, register for three or more Full Day sessions during the Early Bird period and receive $50 off per camper.

Register for Lessons at our School of Music this Spring
The Columbus Centre School of Music's expert instructors and one-on-one private lessons will help you discover your musical passion and learn an instrument in a comfortable, engaging and fun environment. Our music lessons are perfect for students of all ages and skill levels. Register today for spring term lessons, which run April 1 - June 24.

Explore Beginner-Level Recipes at our Spring Term Culinary Workshops
Beginning April 25 at 6pm, join us for a brand-new series of culinary workshops and social dinners. All workshops are interactive and provide an opportunity for students to make their own meal alongside the instructor. The workshops will also include a pairing of wine and a communal meal to enjoy your culinary creations with the other participants.

Competitive Students at DanzArts Toronto Prepare for “On The Floor” Competition
Our dancers at DanzArts Toronto are busy preparing for upcoming competitions. Selected Advanced and Junior dancers will be competing at “On the Floor” Toronto from March 28 - 31, and our entire Competitive company will be competing at “On the Floor” Alliston from April 4 - 7. Auditions for our full time and part time Competitive Dance Programs, beginning fall 2019, will be held on July 3 and 4. Contact us today to book an audition! 

Join Us for our New Spring Series of Impressionist Painting Workshops
Our paint night workshops are an excellent option for those looking to try their hand at impressionist painting. Join us for our first workshop of the spring term on Thursday, April 25 at 6:30pm at the Columbus Centre, where we will be crafting our own interpretations of “Autumn Still Life”. Classes are available for $40 + HST per person. All materials including paint and a canvas will be provided.

Residents and Families Celebrate Saint Joseph’s Day
On March 19, the residents at Casa Del Zotto and Caboto Terrace gathered to celebrate Saint Joseph’s Day. The attendees were treated to delicious zeppola, which received a blessing by Father Giovanni Gioppato.

Villa Colombo Toronto Introduces Francesca the Cat
Villa Colombo Toronto recently adopted an animatronic cat named Francesca as part of their Behavioural Support Ontario (BSO) program to provide comfort and companionship to our seniors. This robotic feline has lifelike tendencies and sensors that allows it to respond in realistic ways when interacted with. VCT plans to adopt more animatronic cats to help residents cope with the agitation and anxieties that often accompanies dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

Villa Colombo Toronto Auxiliary Invites you to VILLA MODA 2019
VILLA MODA 2019 – a fashion show fundraiser for the benefit of the residents at Villa Colombo Toronto will be held on April 25 at 7pm in Sala Caboto. Join us for hors d’oeuvres, sweet treats and exciting raffle prizes (including a trip for two to New York City) while sneaking a peek at some of this season’s hottest trends. Tickets must be purchased in advance and are sold at the Villa Colombo Gift Shop as well as online.

Upcoming Events at Villa Colombo Vaughan in April
On April 7, residents at Villa Colombo Vaughan and their families are invited to participate in the Annual Easter Egg Hunt from 2-4pm. We are also hosting a karaoke night for our residents on April 9 at 6:15pm and our Coro Italia Toronto event on April 10 at 2pm.

Opening Reception of
2018 Viva Vitalità Italiana Exhibition
As part of our annual events for Italian Heritage Month, members of the community, VIP guests and Board members gathered at the Joseph D. Carrier Art Gallery at the Columbus Centre for the opening reception of our 2018 Viva Vitalità Italiana exhibition last June. Attendees enjoyed the beautiful art collections including a photographic exhibition “The Valley of the Temples, Agrigento, Sicily” by Marcello Tarantino and “Spotlight on Italian-Canadian Women Artists.”

Columbus Concert Band Presents a Free Concert at St. Charles Borromeo Parish
On Sunday, March 31 at 4pm, Columbus Concert Band presents a free concert in honour of the parishioners of St. Charles Borromeo Parish. Conductor of the Columbus Concert Band, Annamaria Mazzaferro, will lead the afternoon concert featuring a mixed repertoire.
