Final Performances for “Leonardo’s Last Supper” this Weekend

In Remembrance of the Italian Fallen Workers
On Sunday, April 28, we honour the more than 1,600 Italian fallen workers who lost their lives to workplace tragedies in Canada. Please note that there will not be a formal ceremony this year, however we encourage you to visit The Italian Fallen Workers Memorial Wall this Sunday on the Villa Charities campus to pay your respects. There will be a drop-in reception with refreshments from 3:00pm - 6:00pm at Sala Caboto at Villa Colombo Toronto.

New Exhibitions by Nick and Lucas Biagini Open Tonight
The Joseph D. Carrier Art Gallery at the Columbus Centre is showcasing two new exhibitions. “Material Worlds” by Lucas Biagini is a series of paintings that are highly textured, layered, fused with colour and even geological in appearance. “Above and Beyond” by Nick Biagini is inspired by the beauty of Italian sceneries and uses a technique called ‘impasto’, where the paint is laid on in very thick layers, appearing to come out of the canvas. Visit the exhibition from now until May 26!

Enjoy an Evening of Music at "Serenata"
Don’t miss this free concert featuring tenor Antonio Signorello and pianist Atsuko Nieda on May 2 at 7pm in the Joseph D. Carrier Art Gallery at the Columbus Centre. Enjoy a performance of 18th-century Italian vocal music combining many features of cantata, oratorio and opera with selections from Tosti, Verdi, Puccini, Giordano and Calì among others.

Hone your Italian Skills in New “Learn Italian By Doing” Program
Join us for a delicious prix fixe dinner at Ristorante Boccaccio and engage in lively conversations in Italian. Our Beginner level is devoted to learning Italian in different practical situations and is useful for travelling in Italy, while our Intermediate level will engage you in conversation by learning new Italian vocabulary in a pleasant and informal atmosphere. Villa Charities to Host Second Annual Toronto Italian Book Festival
Celebrate Italian-Canadian culture and literary expression with the second annual “Librissimi Toronto Italian Book Festival” on Saturday, May 4, organized by Comites Toronto. The event features authors, panelists, presenters, performers and a marketplace. All programming will be held at the Joseph D. Carrier Art Gallery at the Columbus Centre.

Explore the History of Bread at Upcoming Cultural Tuesdays Presentation
Join us on April 30 at 7pm at the Columbus Centre for the next presentation in our free Cultural Tuesdays series “Sapori D’Italia – Food Tastings and Conversations” with Gaia Messai to explore the history and general misconceptions about bread. Bread pairings, cooking with bread and how to choose and consume bread (the Italian way), will also be discussed, followed by a tasting of a variety of Italian breads.

Villa Colombo Toronto Hosts Day of Recollection Ceremony
On April 9, Villa Colombo Toronto hosted their bi-annual Day of Recollection. Approximately 110 people participated in a day of prayer and recollection in preparation for Easter.
