Explore Women of the Italian Renaissance in Cultural Tuesday Series

Winterlicious is Coming to Ristorante Boccaccio
Treat your taste buds this winter with Winterlicious at Ristorante Boccaccio. From January 25 to February 7, Ristorante Boccaccio will be offering special, three-course prix-fixe menus for lunch ($23) and dinner ($33) featuring Italian specialties like Insalata al Finocchio, Ravioli ai Quattro Formaggi and Torta al Limone e Ricotta. Reservations begin January 10.

Explore “Diary of a Tufarolo” in Diaspora Series
Join us for the next free event in our Diaspora Series: Multiculturalism and Cultural Identities in the 21st Century, on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 4:00pm at the Columbus Centre’s Joseph D. Carrier Art Gallery. Enjoy conversations and a diary reading with author Bruna Di Giuseppe, “Diary of a Tufarolo.” Presented in collaboration with the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Toronto, this presentation and conversation will be in both English and Italian.

“Home on the Streets” Exhibition by Marco Sassone Coming to the Joseph D. Carrier Art Gallery
Originally executed over the course of four years, Marco Sassone’s upcoming exhibition depicts portraits of the homeless as well as “landscapes” in which these people become an integral part of the urban scenery. Visit the Canadian premiere of this exhibition, including selected additional work executed by Sassone over the past 25 years, at the Joseph D. Carrier Art Gallery at the Columbus Centre from January 24 to April 21.

“Nowhere to Call Home” Exhibition by Leah Denbok Opening at the Joseph D. Carrier Art Gallery
Join us for a new photo-designed exhibition by Leah Denbok, on display at the Joseph D. Carrier Art Gallery at the Columbus Centre. At only 18 years of age, Leah Denbok has created a beautifully produced portfolio of 20 black and white images offering an extraordinarily empathetic and powerful perspective of Toronto's homelessness. Express your Creative Side with our Impressionist Painting Workshops
Try your hand at impressionist painting in our fun and interactive workshops! Join us for our first workshop of the winter term on Thursday, January 17 at 6:30pm at the Columbus Centre, where we will be crafting our own interpretations of Van Gogh’s classic painting, “Starry Night”. Classes are available for $40 + HST per person. All materials including paint and a canvas will be provided.

Discover the Fundamentals of Acting in our Winter Term Theatre Classes
Our winter term theatre classes at Columbus Centre, taught by internationally acclaimed DopoLavoro Teatrale (DLT), propose a methodology of teaching that uses games as a way to engage with theatre and embraces improvisation, comedy, Greek tragedy, Shakespeare, physical theatre and spoken text. Classes begin January 16, offered for various age groups.

Alzheimer’s Day Program Now Open on Saturdays
Villa Colombo Services for Seniors is happy to announce that the Alzheimer’s Day Program will be open on Saturdays beginning January 5, from 8:30am until 4:30pm. Villa Colombo Services for Seniors has been granted additional funding from the LHIN (Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care) to provide this much-needed service six days a week to our clients living at home.

New Italian Diaspora Studies Seminar at University of Calabria
Interested in learning and writing about the Italian diaspora in the world and about Italy? Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Montreal and the University of Calabria's Italian Diaspora Studies Seminar are pleased to launch a new residential program dedicated to the topic of Writing in Cultural Heritage and Memory, running from May 15 to May 29. It will be conducted in both English and Italian, bilingual participants can attend both. If you are interested in participating, please apply by February 2.
