END OF TERM MESSAGE FROM ASO

It's hard to believe that the Winter 2022 term classes end this week on Friday, April 8th! Everyone on the Student Team at ASO wishes you all the best for the upcoming exam period. Some of you may plan to take the Summer term off to rest, relax and spend time with family, while others may have decided to continue to take courses with us. Whatever your plans are, we hope that you have a fantastic summer. Remember, we are always here to answer any of your questions. You can always reach us by emailing [email protected].
ACADEMIC CONSIDERATION EXAM UPDATE

Due to the volume of requests that we are currently experiencing, all 3-day requests will be extended to 5-day requests. This change will begin Friday, April 1 and end with the deferred exam period. If you have questions about how this may impact your ability to extend assignment deadlines, we encourage you to reach out to your Professor(s), attend our virtual Zoom Office Hours on Tuesdays from 2:00-3:30 pm and Thursdays from 10:30 am to noon, or emai[email protected].

The Faculty Office recommends that you do not write exams/quizzes/tests or submit assignments if you are ill or currently experiencing an extenuating circumstance that impacts your academic ability. Students who are symptomatic or have been asked to self-isolate due to COVID should stay home and not come to campus. Please see our COVID-Related Absence Reference Guide for more information.

Students missing exams/deliverables should submit an Academic Consideration request through the Academic Consideration Request Portal. All requests during the exam period require supporting documentation with clearly listed dates. Please see our Academic Consideration webpage for more information about types of requests, supporting documentation and our resource guides.

We appreciate your patience as, during peak periods, it can take up to
3 or more business days to respond to emails and up to 6 business days to process long-term requests.

ONLINE PROCTORED EXAM INFOMATION

Check your exam date and time in SOLUS
Your exam date and time can be found in your SOLUS account. On your SOLUS main page, under the ‘Academics’ section, click on the ‘other academic…’ dropdown menu; ‘Exam Schedule’ will be the 11th menu item listed.  Click on it, then click on the ‘Go’ icon; from this screen, you will be able to view your exam date and time.

Examity online proctoring
All proctored exams for online courses will be written with Examity online proctoring. All details regarding your exams are posted to your onQ course pages along with directions for logging into Examity and scheduling your exam. Please note the exam will begin on the day and time set in SOLUS, but there will be a 36-hour window within which you will schedule your exam.

Practice test
You have the opportunity to take a Practice Test with Examity (available until April 12th), which allows you to run through the authentication process and what will be expected of you during your actual exam. The full list of technical requirements can be found here. The Examity team will trouble-shoot technical issues, and the Queen’s ITS Support Centre is ready to go more in-depth with solutions if needed. ITSC Exam Support Phone Line - 613-533-6666. Students who complete the practice test have far fewer issues during the actual exam than those who don’t complete it, so please make sure you take it!

Please note, unlike the actual exam, the Practice Test does not have a live proctor.

Accommodations
Students who have submitted a Letter of Accommodation through the Academic Accommodations and Considerations portal on their OnQ page will have their applicable accommodations applied to their exam with Examity.

We wish you the best of luck on your exams and final assessments!
