Dear Community Friend and Supporter,

MOVE 'N' GROOVE4BGC, our largest fundraiser of the year, is just TEN DAYS away! I urge each and every one of you to participate, donate, or volunteer at the event on July 15th to help fund vital programming for Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County.

Why is your support for this fundraiser vital? You've seen that our goal is to raise $700,000 through this fundraiser, but in reality, our goal is so much more than that. Our goal is to feed every member of our after-school clubs so no child goes home hungry. It is to provide STEAM programming to underrepresented children and teens in our community and empower them to pursue a career they are passionate about. It is to provide homework help so that our members stay on track to graduate; and to provide members with real-life experience through paid internships.

In short, our goal is to inspire and empower all young people in Dane County to reach their full potential and to have a great future.

MOVE ‘N’ GROOVE4BGC raises funds to support our preschool, Clubs, AVID/TOPS, and Skilled Trades and Entrepreneurship Training. These programs have a widespread impact, helping young people in our community ages 2.5 – 24 to have future success. This year, MOVE 'N' GROOVE4BGC is the first event in a day full of celebration for the GRAND OPENING of the McKenzie Regional Workforce Center!

Habitat for Humanity Volunteer Workshop

• Thursdays and Fridays July 13th through August 18th, 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM at

• This workshop counts towards any volunteer/service hours needed!

Our Pitch, Hit, and Run participants knocked it out of the park! Members from Wisconsin Athletics staff and student-athletes partnered with BGCDC to test participants' skills and provide the opportunity for them to advance to the National Finals, where they can showcase their talents during the MLB World Series! Thank you to Pepsi & the Tom Gugel Family Fund for supporting this event.

Our summer programming for Careerforce Build Up! got off to a great start with the Allied Explorers Landscaping Camp! Our members took a field trip out to the UW Madison Arboretum to learn about our local environment, including what plant species are native vs. invasive and steps to take to reduce invasive species population.

Our preschoolers have been having fun in the summer sun! They've been busy playing at the splash pad at Wetmore Park, and learning about other fun summer activities like gardening. They even got to try fresh basil straight from the McKenzie Family Club garden!

Making New Friends at the Allied Family Center

Summer camp is in full swing at the Allied Family Center! Summer camp members got to know each other by playing group games like Uno and doing arts and crafts together! Everyone was excited to make new friends, and can't wait to do more activities together.

Swim Lessons at Taft Street Summer Camp

Our Taft Street Summer Camp members have been having a great time at their swim lessons sponsored by the Shelley Glover Foundation! Everyone loves getting out in the sun and into the water to build their swimming skills and learn about water safety.

Our summer interns are SO EXCITED to have started their internships and meet their new colleagues! Our team of interns at Urban Triage had a great time touring the site on their first day and setting goals for their internships. One of our interns shared their thoughts on the first week of their internship:

"My highlight of the first week was meeting new people and getting a chance to experience a new environment. Everyone was so welcoming and had patience when explaining things to me - my goal is to do a good job and represent BGCDC well so that other people can do this internship in the future."

We're getting so excited to host the Verona Area Pre-K program at the Allied Family Center (4619 Jenewein RD). The program starts in the Fall of 2023 and focuses on a fun play-based learning approach!

The lessons will mainly take place in small-group AND large-group activities to focus on building social skills and making new friends!

Do you love working with young children (ages 2.5-5)? We are seeking a licensed early childhood educator! In this role, you'll create and implement fun and exciting activities for preschool youth.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

• Create and implement fun and exciting activities that inspire participation within provided guidelines
• Communicate positively and create relationships with members and families
• Provide positive guidance and role-modeling to members

Full Time: Monday - Friday

Beginning salary starts at $16.00/hour ($33,280) with Full Benefits

We're excited to announce our partnership with locally owned Play It Again Sports! If you have gently used sports & fitness gear that you no longer use, bring it in to Play It Again Sports Madison at 6674 Odana Road and tell them you'd like to donate your store credit to BGCDC - it's that simple! This fund will help BGCDC purchase new recreational equipment for our clubs!
