Overloaded Classrooms Appear to be in this Years Theme... 

We have been answering a lot of questions about overload this year. It appears that we have an abundance of classes in overload compared to years past. Below you will find talking points that can be found in our contract related to caseload and overload language.
  • Overloads should be addressed, or remedies in place by September 15 deadline.
  • Overloads that existed on September 15 and continue will be paid for the quarter.
  • Overloads that start after Sept 15 will be paid if the overload exists for at least six (6) consecutive days in elementary.
  • Overloads that start after Sept 15 will be paid if the overload exists for at least 15 consecutive days in secondary.
  • Grades K-3
    • 24-26 Students/ $20 per day. 
  • Grades 4-6
    • 28-29 Students/ $20 per day.
  • Grades 7-8
    • 30 Students/class and 143 students/day. No more than 150/day.
    • Health classes follow these guidelines. 
  • Grades 9-12 
    • 32 students/class and 153 students/day. No more than 160/day. 
    • Excludes advisory and Health classes follow these guidelines.
  • Elementary Specialist
    • Overload pay for the following classes:
    • K-3, 29 or more students ($5/class/day)
    • 4-6, 32 or more students ($5/class/day)
  • PE/Music in Secondary
    • 40 students/class and no more than 200/day.

Student Loan Forgiveness Workshop

The latest NEA Member Benefit research shows that recent graduates are leaving schools with greater and greater debt. This presentation will cover the basics of how a school employee qualifies for federal student loan forgiveness programs. 

We will cover Teacher Loan Forgiveness, Teacher Loan Cancellation and Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
