KEA Officer Nominations Will Open Feb 6

Have you ever considered taking a leadership role in KEA? If so, now is the time to make that consideration a reality! Nominations for KEA President, Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer will open on February 6th at 4:00. KEA officers may run for three two-year terms. Please let your building rep know if you would like to be nominated. Nominations will close on February 13. All candidate statements will be due to KEA by March 1st at 4:00. The ballots will be distributed on March 6th during the Rep Council Meeting. The voting window will be open on March 6th and continue through April 3rd. All ballots must be returned to KEA by 5:00 on April 3rd. The sign of a healthy organization is to have contested elections. So please consider running!
How Can I Access the KEA Contract?

The office has received calls on how to access the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA or Contract). The electronic contract is available on the KEA website, www.kentwea.org under Collective Bargaining.

Below is a link to a searchable PDF that you can download for your own use. It is convenient for searching by keywords like: maternity, overload, bereavement and class size.

How Does KEA Decide on Course Offerings?

Recently, we've received questions on some of our course offerings. Since we are a member-driven organization, we decide which courses to offer based on member interest. It is not uncommon for classes to fill up within a couple of hours. If there are enough people on the waiting list, we will offer another section of the class as soon as another instructor is available. KEA leadership has been awarded several grants adding up to almost $10,000 in the last three years for professional development courses. That is how KEA can provide food and instructors for no additional cost to our members. There is also no charge for clock hours. One of the many union member benefits!
Looking for Volunteer Opportunities?

Some of our members have expressed an interest in volunteering in our area, where KSD students and families can benefit. As a result of that interest, KEA has established a KEA Cares Committee. Please see the information below regarding our first volunteer opportunity. If you are interested in being part of the committee, or getting involved in the volunteer activities, please email Christie Padilla
