All members and friends,

Let's hope that the March 31 / April 1 snowfall is the last for this season!  There are several REAA activities that are kicking off this Spring.  

Registrations are still open for our Summer Drama Workshop program.  We offer both morning and afternoon programming for kids between 1st Grade through 11th Grade.  We are even adding an evening program called: "THE GAUNTLET: Stage Combat & Fight Choreography Workshop".  See below for details.

We also have programs for adults.  The REAA Chorale resumes rehearsals on April 11.  Registrations are now open for our next "Art in the Hall" event in May.

We also have some job opportunities for the summer.  We are looking for a staff to support support the River's Edge Players production of " Disney's The Little Mermaid" in August.  We are also looking for a Director, Music Director and some Assistants for our Summer Drama workshop.  See the " Classified" section below for more information.

Program Updates
River's Edge School of Music - Student Recitals
We have over 40 students participating in our after school music program.  This week, they will all be participating in student recitals to showcase their talent.  We have split the recitals into two evenings:  

Monday, April 3 at 7pm - Little Theater at Hudson High School
Tuesday, April 4 at 7pm - Little Theater at Hudson High School

The recitals are free and open to the public.  There will be a reception following each program.

Summer Musical

We are excited to announce that our Summer Musical will be " Disney's The Little Mermaid"!  We will be working to interview and hire an Artist Director, Music Director, and Producer this month (See " Classifieds" below for details).

Auditions will take place in the middle of May and the show will take place in early August.  Please check our website over the next few weeks for updates including audition dates and more:

Summer Drama Workshop

Registrations are now open for our  2017 Summer Drama Workshop!

The workshop will be held at Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School in Marlborough, MA.

Afternoon Workshop details (12:45 - 2:45):

WEEK 1 (July 3-7; *No camp on July 4th)

NEW FOR YOUTH / YOUNG ADULTS!!! July 10-14th (6pm-8pm)
THE GAUNTLET: Stage Combat & Fight Choreography Workshop
(Grades 7th through Undergrad College)
Taught by an experienced stage combat practitioner, participants in this stage combat workshop will learn basic unarmed fighting techniques for stage and screen. The workshop will consist of learning a series of attacks and responses including punches, kicks, slaps, and blocks. These techniques will then be incorporated into a mini-fight scene that will be presented to parents at the end of the week. An excellent opportunity to learn more about how to safely fight during performance.
$125 per student

River's Edge Chorale

The River's Edge Chorale will resume rehearsals on Tuesday, April 11 at 7pm  at Hudson High School.  The first two rehearsals will be open rehearsals.  There are no auditions to join the group.  

We will be preparing for the annual "Concert in the Park" which will take place on Wednesday, June 14.

River's Edge Arts Alliance Classifieds

Summer Drama Workshop -
We still have a few positions open for our SDW program:

LITTLE THEATRE 2 (NEEDED July 17-28) - Ages 5-7
1. Teaching Artist/Director -
A two-week playmaking session. Looking for a qualified teaching artist to direct and guide a short play based on the campers' interests. Wacky fairy tale adaptations, etc. It will be up to you to write a short script for the play and rehearse the campers' so that they feel 110% comfortable for a performance on the final day of camp, July 28th.
2. Program Assistant (NEEDED JULY 3-28) -
This position is appropriate for a high-school or undergrad student with a background/interest in theatre. You would be responsible for teaching theatre games, keeping campers busy while the lead teaching artist is working with a smaller group. Working with campers on making simple props, scenery, and costumes.

CHILDREN'S THEATRE (NEEDED July 3-21) - Ages 8-12
Musical Director -
Three-week program that ends in a fully-staged musical on July 20th & 21. You would be responsible for teaching all music for production, leading vocal warmups, guide basic singing technique, and playing the piano for the final performances. Must have previous musical direction experience with children and be able to play the score proficiently. Expected to assist the director of this program when needed.

River's Edge Players Theater Staff
We are seeking staff for our annual Community Theater Musical. 

We are looking for an Artistic Director, a Musical Director, and a Producer for our production of "Disney's The Little Mermaid".  The performance is scheduled to take place the weekend of August 11 through August 13.
